Theres a Reliable Method For Triggering Lucid Dreams, Scientists Have Found – ScienceAlert

They're incredible. Amazing. Magical. But perhaps the most fantastic thing about lucid dreams – in which the dreamer becomes aware they're dreaming – is how realistic they seem.   Sadly, only about half of us ever experience lucid dreams in our lives, and efforts to trigger the phenomenon have delivered mixed results. But a study published in 2018 revealed one of the most effective ways of inducing lucid dreaming yet. Building on their own previous research, researchers at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and the Lucidity Institute in Hawaii wanted to investigate how chemicals called acetylcholinesterase inhibitors (AChEls) might promote lucid dreaming. The neurotransmitter acetylcholine is thought to help modulate REM sleep, and AChEls help this compound to aggregate in the brain...

Ray Liotta reveals why he passed on role in The Sopranos – New York Post

The rumor mill has swirled for quite a while that Ray Liotta was offered the lead role of Tony in “The Sopranos” and he turned it down. However, that was never the case. Liotta, 66, explained in an interview with the Guardian that he was approached by the HBO mob drama’s creator David Chase to play a different character. “No! I don’t know where that story came from,” Liotta said about the idea he was offered the role of Tony Soprano. “David once talked to me about playing Ralphie. But never Tony.” But the “Shades of Blue” star said even the part of Ralphie, which was ultimately played by Joe Pantoliano, was just not in the cards for him. “I didn’t want to do another mafia thing, and I was shooting ‘Hannibal.’ It just didn’t feel right at the time,” he said...

Exercise and weight loss: Why working out may not help as much as you think – New York Post

A new study of how physical activity impacts the metabolism of humans suggests that increasing levels of activity may bring diminishing returns in energy expenditure. This is due to “compensatory responses in non-activity energy expenditures,” international researchers wrote in the study, published in August in the journal Current Biology. For every 100 calories burned as a result of working out, the study says most people will net fewer than 72 calories burned. “This suggestion has profound implications for both the evolution of metabolism and human health. It implies that a long-term increase in activity does not directly translate into an increase in total energy expenditure (TEE) because other components of TEE may decrease in response – energy compensation,”...

Gutfeld! beats all late-night shows on their widely hyped Climate Night – Fox News

Fox News' "Gutfeld!" beat all the other late-night shows Wednesday after the liberal hosts collectively hyped their so-called "Climate Night." Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, James Corden, Trevor Noah and Samantha Bee traded in comedy for activism on Wednesday night and joined forces to sound the alarm on climate change. Going beyond the opening monologues, Kimmel had multiple climate scientists on his show, Meyers interviewed President Biden's climate czar John Kerry and Colbert spoke candidly with "Mother Earth." However, none of them topped Greg Gutfeld, whose show landed in the #1 spot with 1.89 million viewers.  BILL MAHER AMAZED BY GREG GUTFELD, ‘NEW KING OF LATE NIGHT’: ‘FOX NEWS FOUND A GOOD THING’ Colbert's "The Late Show" on CBS came in with near...
