Britney Spears’ father, Jamie Spears, hired a security company that monitored her digital communications and went so far as to secretly capture audio recordings from her bedroom, according to a New York Times documentary released Friday. The audio ― more than 180 hours’ worth ― allegedly recorded conversations the pop star had with her boyfriend and her children, said Alex Vlasov, a former employee of the company Black Box who spoke with the Times for its “New York Times Presents” series on Hulu. “Just because you’re in control, doesn’t give you the right to treat people like property,” Vlasov said in the hourlong program. “It didn’t feel like she was being treated like a human being.” At another point, he told the Times that it felt like the security team surrounding Britney Spears...

At its big Tudum event, Netflix showed off a nice, two-minute-long look at one of its most exciting upcoming movies: Don’t Look Up. Don’t Look Up is one of the more interesting films in Netflix’s slate, a story about astronomers trying to save the world from an impending asteroid collision. it also happens to have a stellar cast. Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence play the aforementioned astronomers, while Meryl Streep is the president, Jonah Hill is her chief of staff, and the rest of the lineup includes Ron Perlman, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Kid Cudi, Cate Blanchett, and Tyler Perry. Adam McKay is writer and director. Don’t Look Up is due to hit Netflix on December 24th but will be in select theaters before that on December 10th.

Netflix has all the attention in the world, but maybe not the IP to contend with the Disney and HBOs of the world. So it’s understandable the company would be pushing hard to expand their most promising franchises. Which is why we’re about to have a ton of Witcher in the immediate future. On Saturday, out of the Tudum fan event, Netflix announced a handful of new stories set in the Witchering World of Geralt of Rivia. The new animated project follows August’s anime-inspired feature The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf from Legend of Korra team Studio Mir. Netflix will also produce a new “fun filled” Witcher series for kids and families — though it’s not exactly clear how that’s going to work.
