‘Shang-Chi’ Bound For Labor Day Weekend Record With $90M+ WW Launch – Box Office Preview – Deadline

The Labor Day weekend box office, the last frame of summer, which studios typically shy from, is poised for a revolution as Disney debuts the first Asian American Marvel superhero feature Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings.  Studios have held the long belief that no one goes to the movies over Labor Day weekend, and it’s for that reason why they’ve avoided opening movies over the four-day holiday. However, Disney believes that it’s possible to open a Marvel movie anywhere on the calendar, even during a pandemic. NRG moviegoing comfort levels have stabilized over the last two weeks in the 66-68% range with around 28% of all moviegoers being very comfortable. Disney/Marvel In U.S. and Canada, it’s projected that Shang-Chi is in store for a Labor Day opening wee...

The 27-year-old, who has largely stayed out of the spotlight since his exit from the hit sitcom, stepped out barefoot on Monday in Los Angeles. The actor sported a thick beard with a black beanie, khaki shorts and a black graphic T-shirt that read "SHOQUIP" in blue lettering, referring to his home state of Texas. He kept a low profile as he walked toward his car. For his recent outing Angus T. Jones wore a black beanie, beige shorts and a T-shirt with the logo of ‘Shoquip,’ a company based in his home state of Texas. Delta variant: A lot of our school systems are at risk of closing amid surges, doctor warns – Yahoo Finance

Children are accounting for a larger number of COVID-19 cases as the highly transmissible Delta variant spreads rapidly. And as millions of students return to school nationwide, health officials are warning that infection numbers could get worse, potentially forcing schools to return to remote learning. “We’re going to start seeing a lot of our school systems, especially those that did not mandate masks, starting to close down,” University of Alabama at Birmingham's Dr. Michael Saag told Yahoo Finance Live. “Our pediatric units… are getting stretched and we didn’t see that before because Delta is different.” According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, more than 200,000 children tested positive for COVID-19 for the week ending Aug. 26 — accounting for about 22% of the total cases repo...

Covid Survivors More Likely to Have Kidney Problems, Study Finds – The New York Times

Since the beginning of the pandemic, doctors have found that people who become very ill with Covid-19 often experience kidney problems, not just the lung impairments that are the hallmark of the illness. Now, a large study suggests that kidney issues can last for months after patients recover from the initial infection, and may lead to a serious lifelong reduction of kidney function in some patients. The study, published Wednesday in the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, found that the sicker Covid patients were initially, the more likely they were to experience lingering kidney damage. But even people with less severe initial infections could be vulnerable. “You see really, across the board, a higher risk of a bunch of important kidney-associated events,” said Dr. F. Perry ...

Piers Morgan cleared by media regulator for Meghan Markle comments – New York Post

Piers Morgan was cleared Wednesday by the UK media watchdog, which ruled that the “Good Morning Britain” host did not breach broadcasting code when he criticized Meghan Markle’s Oprah Winfrey interview — rejecting a record number of viewer complaints. Morgan, 65, had dismissed Markle’s mental health struggles and accused her of lying about her claim that the royal family refused to get her help. The morning show star said he did not “believe a word” Markle said and that he wouldn’t believe her if “she read me a weather report,” BBC reported. The tirade prompted a record 57,793 complaints to the Office of Communication — the highest in its 18-year history. The Duchess of Sussex herself also lodged a formal complaint. The backlash also prompted Morgan ...

Stephen Amell says he had too many drinks before being asked to leave flight – CNN

Amell was asked to leave the flight before it departed after a public argument with his wife, Cassandra Jean, the actor recalled on an episode of Michael Rosenbaum's podcast "Inside of You." "What happened was -- and it's very, very simple -- I had too many drinks, and I had too many drinks in a public place. And I got on a plane," he said. He continued: "I was pissed off about something else that had nothing to do with Cass, my wife, and I picked a fight. I picked a fight because I wanted to be loud and upset. And it was a fight, as in like, it was not an argument. In order to have an argument, two people have to be talking. My wife said one thing the entire time, which was, 'If you don't lower your voice, they're going to ask you to get off the plane.' That's the only thing she said...

NC man begs people to get vaccinated after wifes hospital stay was cut short – wral.com

By CNN Newsource Mooresville, N.C. — A North Carolina man is pleading for people to get the COVID-19 vaccine after he said his wife's hospital stay was cut short due to a surplus of patients and a shortage of rooms. Jason Arena's wife had stage 4 breast cancer. According to Arena, he drove her to the hospital for treatment because she was having severe symptoms, including trouble breathing due to excess fluid in her lungs and jaundice. Arena said they got to the hospital at 4:30 a.m. but had to wait four hours to be seen. "They put an oxygen mask on her, and she sat in a wheelchair for four hours in the waiting room," he said. Once his wife was treated in the emergency room, the doctors did a great job, Arena said, bu...
