SPOILER: Why did the heartbeat sound play during Roman Reigns exit on WWE Friday Night SmackDown? – Wrestling News

WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns retained his title in the main event of this week’s episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown but he had some help from The Usos. Before the match got started, Jimmy and Jey Uso attacked Balor and that gave Reigns the advantage throughout the match. During the match, Jimmy and Jey were chased away by The Street Profits. After Reigns won and when he walked back up the aisle, fans could hear the sound of a heartbeat and the arena lights briefly turned red. While some fans have speculated that this is a tease for Brock Lesnar, who returns next week in Madison Square Garden, the tease is actually for the return of The Demon character. PWInsider reported last week that the main event for Extreme Rules on September 26 will be Balor vs. Reigns so, unless plans ch...

Nicole Scherzinger sued by Pussycat Dolls founder over reunion – Page Six

I hate this part right here (when I get sued). Nicole Scherzinger — lead singer of The Pussycat Dolls — has been hit with a hefty lawsuit by choreographer Robin Antin — the group’s founder — that was filed on Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court, The Hollywood Reporter reports. According to the suit, the performer, 43, agreed to a reunion of the Aughts-era sexy girl group behind such hits as “Don’t Cha” and “Stickwitu.” Scherzinger is alleged to have signed off on a reunion and “new Pussycat Dolls business venture” with Antin, agreeing to 49 percent of the deal under a short-form agreement referred to in the suit as a Memorandum of Understanding. The suit says that Scherzinger “now refuses to participate in the tour” following the cancelation of the...

The Georgia Department of Health reported Friday that 20,041 have died of the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic. That includes 106 additional deaths reported Friday. The state also reported 9,119 new cases of COVID-19 Friday, the third-highest total of new cases in a 24-hour period since the pandemic began. “It is tragic but not surprising that we have surpassed this grim milestone of 20,000 COVID deaths in our state,” said Kathleen E. Toomey, M.D., M.P.H., Georgia Department of Public Health commissioner. “97% of COVID deaths since we’ve had a vaccine are in unvaccinated individuals. These deaths are preventable.” This week, Georgia is se...

Twenty-nine new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Humboldt County today. The total number of residents who have tested positive for the virus now stands at 7,337. Three new hospitalizations also were reported today, including two people in their 50s and one child under the age of 10 who is not yet old enough for vaccination. These tools give us the best chance to keep kids healthy and learning in school.” Given the county’s extremely high case rate of 39.9 per 100,000 residents, Pereira emphasized ...

Broadways Waitress Pays Heartfelt Tribute To Nick Cordero Upon Reopening – HuffPost

Broadway’s “Waitress” offered a special homage to one of its original cast members when it reopened this week after an 18-month closure.  Actor Nick Cordero, who originated the role of Earl in “Waitress,” died in July 2020 following a monthslong battle with COVID-19. At the reopening performance of “Waitress” on Thursday night, Sara Bareilles welcomed Cordero’s wife, Amanda Kloots, to the stage for an impromptu singalong of “Live Your Life,” Cordero’s 2018 pop-rock single and the title track of his debut solo album, released on what would have been his 41st birthday last year.  Cordero had only recently begun to perform the song live in concert before testing positive for the coronavirus. Watch the “Waitress” cast perform “Live Your Life” below.  “He is still a beautiful sp...

Three more were based on Tolstoy stories — “The Kreutzer Sonata,” “Boxing Day” and “2 Jacks” — all set in the modern day, all starring Huston, all delving into the self-destructiveness, vanity and excess. Skewering the rich, while stopping just short of judging them, became a recurring theme. Those films barely got a theatrical release, but they showed Rose’s commitment to characters who are messy, conflicted and often meet bad ends. “If we only regard cinema as a way of entertaining,” he said, “we’re actually ignoring one of its biggest functions, which is to record how people really were, and what was going on.” “The problem, and this is really simply the problem,” he continued, “is how to reconcile that stuff with actually earning a living.” Early in the pandemic, Rose decided to make ...
