Flu is coming. Maryland officials say: ‘Now is the perfect time to get the vaccine’ – Baltimore Sun

“If we go back to mask-wearing in public, indoors in particular, we’re going to blunt the influenza pandemic again,” Chessare said. “If there’s one thing we’ve totally learned, it’s that masking blunts the transmission of respiratory tract viruses. Another thing we’ve learned is that hand hygiene is fabulous, everyone should do it, but it doesn’t necessarily stop respiratory viruses.”

Punk praised the crowd for being so into the shows, teased a match with Jungle Boy, and thanked the fans for being friends by singing the Golden Girls theme song. Latest COVID surge strains central Minnesota hospitals – Minnesota Public Radio News

The latest surge of COVID-19 cases is straining hospitals in central Minnesota, where vaccination rates trail other parts of the state. In the CentraCare health care system, which operates hospitals and clinics in central Minnesota including St. Cloud, the number of hospitalized patients is higher now than during the spring surge, said Dr. George Morris, medical incident commander for CentraCare’s COVID-19 response team. That’s led to dwindling space in the hospitals’ intensive care units — sometimes just a handful of available beds statewide, Morris said.  He said the surge is hindering CentraCare’s ability to do scheduled surgeries and care for patients suffering from heart attacks, strokes or other non-COVID-19 conditions. The vast majority of patients with COVID in CentraCare’s hospit...

Hundreds gather at Clallam Courthouse – Peninsula Daily News

PORT ANGELES — An estimated 200 to 300 anti-vaccine-mandate protesters rallied outside the Clallam County Courthouse on Friday morning before dozens entered the lobby, intent on confronting Dr. Allison Berry, the health officer for Clallam and Jefferson counties. Law enforcement personnel blocked members of the crowd from proceeding down a hallway where a COVID-19 briefing was being held, upstairs to a courtroom that was in session, and downstairs to the basement, where the emergency operations center is located.
