This Flu Season Is Expected to Be Worse Than the Last One, Threatening Hospitals Strained by Delta – The Wall Street Journal

The coming flu season is on track to be much worse than the last cycle, according to health experts, who fear an influx of cases could further strain hospitals already overwhelmed by the Delta surge. The season could also strike earlier and more severely than usual, doctors and researchers said, because many people haven’t been able to build up their natural immune defenses while working from home and avoiding strangers.

Bill Cosby Comedy Tour on Ice Because of Sexual Assault Lawsuit – TMZ

Bill Cosby will NOT be hitting the road anytime soon to tell jokes ... because he's got more legal woes to deal with first, and his team is convinced the media will skewer him during a tour. Cosby's rep, Andrew Wyatt, tells TMZ ... the comedy tour Cosby was planning to launch is officially on ice -- with no resuming date in mind just yet -- and he says the reason they're hitting pause is Judy Huth's civil lawsuit. Huth sued Cosby way back in 2014 for sexual assault, alleging he pounced on her at the Playboy Mansion in the '70s, when she was just 15. He's denied the allegations, and the suit stalled while Cosby faced the A...

AGT: Simon Cowell absolutely gutted by shocking Top 10 reveal, calls for finale wildcard – USA TODAY

The Top 10 on "America's Got Talent" is set. The last five acts moving on to the finals were revealed during Wednesday's results show following what Heidi Klum called "a tough night" of semifinal performances. In Simon Cowell's opinion, however, "that’s not enough" contestants in the finale.  "So many of you were outstanding last night," said Cowell, who admitted to being "absolutely gutted" by the Top 10 reveal. "I think we should have a wild card." A new champion will be crowned next week. The past two winners – spoken word artist Brandon Leake (season 15) and singer Kodi Lee(season 14) – were both Golden Buzzer winners. But the coveted status is no longer synonymous with frontrunners. Just like last week, two Golden Buzzer winners who earned rave reviews found themselves in danger of e...

Michael Constantine, who played the dad in My Big Fat Greek Wedding, has died at 94 – CNN

Constantine was a busy character actor for five decades, winning an Emmy for his role as school principal Seymour Kaufman in the ABC series "Room 222" in 1970. But his most memorable role was as family patriarch Gus Portokalos in the surprise independent film hit "My Big Fat Greek Wedding." In that movie, Constantine played a loving but overprotective father who was immensely proud of his heritage and insisted that virtually all minor physical maladies could be cured with Windex. Constantine reprised the role in a film sequel, as well as the short-lived TV series "My Big Fat Greek Life." Constantine's family says he died in Reading, Pennsylvania, on August 31 following a long illness, according to an article in the Reading Eagle which was confirmed to CNN by his agent, Julia ...

As experts debate COVID-19 boosters, vaccinated people are calling their own shots – Anchorage Daily News

Kavita Patel -- a primary care physician shown here at the Adelphi, Md. location of Mary's Center -- plans to get a booster shot. (Washington Post photo by Bill O'Leary) Kavita Patel, a primary care physician at Mary’s Center in the Washington area, routinely throws away perfectly good doses of coronavirus vaccine. When she opens a new multidose vial, any shots that don’t go into arms that day have to be discarded. In recent days, she was tempted to do something different: use one of those soon-to-be wasted doses to boost her own immunity. It might seem a no-brainer, but nothing is simple when it comes to coronavirus vaccine boosters. The Biden administration’s coronavirus task force wants to roll out boosters the week of Sept. 20. Too soon, some experts have declared. Not soon enough, ot...

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Recap: Who Let the Conchs Out? – Vulture

This week on our favorite show, Rich Women Doing Things, the rich women did things. They go to an auction preview and buy $4,800 Cartier rings on a whim, like when I stop by the bodega for a Magnum bar on the walk home on a hot night. They force their assistants to light about 900 candles on their front lawn for a dinner party as if people want to come eat on the set of a date on The Bachelor. And, of course, they threaten each other. I sort of hate when Bravo gives us a “To Be Continued…” because what happens after that is usually not nearly as good as what happens before. Oh, not this week in the second part of the Dinner Party from Hell Part 2: The Quickening. We left off with Erika telling Sutton,...

"I expect the rollout for boosters may be as early as the end of September or as late as the end of October," said Dr. Lisa Santora, deputy health officer for Marin County. The FDA is holding an advisory committee meeting on Sept. 17 to discuss the safety and efficacy data of Pfizer's booster vaccine. RELATED: Doctors say Labor Day COVID-19 surge 'very possible' for the Bay Area in the coming weeks Santora explains if Pfizer's booster receives approval from the FDA, the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, or ACIP, will determine which groups should be prioritized first.
