Queen Elizabeth supports Black Lives Matter movement, says senior representative – CNN

Ken Olisa, the first black Lord-Lieutenant for London, said that the issue of race is a "hot conversation topic" in the royal household, in an interview which will be aired Friday, reports PA Media. The royal family's attitude to race has been in the spotlight recently following allegations of racism from Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and the revelation that ethnic minority immigrants and foreigners were banned from clerical positions until at least the late 1960s. However Olisa suggested that the family are open to talking about racism. "I have discussed with the royal household this whole issue of race, particularly in the last 12 months since the George Floyd incident," he said. "It's a hot conversation topic. The question is what more can we do to bind society to rem...

Saint West, 5, Breaks His Arm & Mom Kim Kardashian Is Devastated: ‘I’m Not OK’ – HollywoodLife

Kim Kardashian revealed that her son, Saint West, has broken his arm ‘in a few places.’ Kim admitted she ‘cried’ as she dealt with her child’s injury. Saint West, 5, suffered an unfortunate injury, and mom Kim Kardashian, 40, was by his side through it all. Kim revealed on her Instagram Story that her oldest son broke his arm and had to get a cast on his right arm. She shared photos of Saint after the injury. “Who do you think cried more today? My baby broke his arm in a few places today. I’m not okay,” Kim captioned a photo of Saint in a wheelchair. She later posted a photo of Saint’s new black cast. “Poor baby,” she wrote. Kim has not revealed how Saint broke his arm. Kids get hurt, it’s a part of life. In 2020, Kim and Kanye West’s daughter, Chicago West, 3, fel...

Wait times at Disneyland and Universal Studios are way down – Los Angeles Times

A longtime theme park fan, Hastin Zylstra has spent plenty of time waiting in long lines for rides at the Disneyland Resort. So, he was prepared for the worst when he recently got in the queue for California Adventure Park’s newest attraction, Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure. But to his surprise, the wait was only 20 minutes — an unusually short period for almost any theme park, let alone a Disney park. “This is a shock to see wait times so low,” said Zylstra, who hasn’t seen queues this short since a brutal 2016 heat wave kept most Disney fans at home. But Zylstra’s brief wait was no anomaly. Average wait times at Disneyland, California Adventure and Universal Studios Hollywood have dropped — dramatically for some rides — since the parks reopened from a pandemic-provoked closure tha...

COVID vaccine creator says mass boosters may be unnecessary – ABC News

A leading scientist behind the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine says booster shots may be unnecessary for many people By DANICA KIRKA Associated Press September 10, 2021, 10:17 AM • 2 min read Share to FacebookShare to TwitterEmail this article LONDON -- Booster shots to extend the protection of COVID-19 vaccines may be unnecessary for many people, a leading scientist behind the AstraZeneca vaccine said on Friday. Oxford University Professor Sarah Gilbert told The Telegraph newspaper that immunity from the vaccine was holding up well — even against the delta variant. While the elderly and those who are immune-compromised may need boosters, the standard two-dose regimen is providing lasting protection for most people, she said. “We will look at each situation; the immuno-compromise...

Some airlines are banning cloth face masks on flights – NJ.com

Next time you travel on an airplane you may need to do more than just remember to bring your mask. You may need to remember to bring the right kind, and leave those cloth masks at home. Several airlines, mostly European carriers, are banning cloth masks, according to The Washington Post. The carriers will insist travelers wear surgical masks, KN95 or N95 masks without a valve, or FFP2 masks. Finnair was the most recent European air carrier to ban cloth masks, while other carriers such as Lufthansa have had policies such as this in place since Feb. 1. Air France also requires surgical masks when flying. American air carriers, however, are more lenient, even as the Delta variant spreads. To this day, no U.S. aircraft carrier has banned cloth masks. “The filtration effectiveness of clo...

What is ivermectin, and where did people get the idea it can treat covid? – The Washington Post

“We’ve already had the sad example of hydroxychloroquine, which is used for malaria, which clearly did not show any positive effects,” said Sunil Parikh, an associate professor of epidemiology and infectious diseases at the Yale School of Public Health, referring to the drug pushed by President Donald Trump and others during the earlier stages of the pandemic.

Morpheus is in The Matrix 4 – and he’s played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II – Gamesradar

Laurence Fishburne might not be in The Matrix 4 – officially titled The Matrix Resurrections – but that doesn’t mean Morpheus is sitting this one out. Watchmen actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II took to Instagram to seemingly confirm what many had already suspected: he’s playing Morpheus – or a version of him, anyway. The clues were all there: the iconic glasses, the long coats, and offering Keanu Reeves’ Neo the choice between red and blue pills oncemorea. Now, Abdul-Mateen’s "MORPHEUS" caption will simultaneously clear things up and confuse matters further. For his part, Fishburne confirmed back in 2020 that he wouldn’t be appearing in The Matrix Resurrections, nor was he asked to. "I have not been invited," he told New York Magazine, via The Wrap. "Maybe that will make me write another p...

Bhoot Police Review: Saif Ali Khan Brings His Flair For Comedy To Breezy Caper Film – NDTV Movies

<!-- --> A still from Bhoot Police.(courtesy: arjunkapoor) Cast: Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Yami Gautam, Jacqueline Fernandez, Jaaved Jaffrey, Rajpal Yadav, Girish Kulkarni, Jamie Lever, Amit Mistry Director: Pavan Kripalani Rating: Two and a half stars ( out of 5) Pavan Kripalani's Bhoot Police, a horror comedy that keeps its cards close to the chest until it is well into the second half, opens, believe it or not, with an Abraham Lincoln quote. It, however, quickly proceeds to lay the ghost of America's first President to rest because he obviously isn't central to the zany plot. There is nothing in this crazy, breezy caper film about a pair of on-call ghostbusters that one would associate with anything that Lincoln might have had in mind when he said: "To believe in things yo...

Phil Collins Says He Can No Longer Play Drums As Genesis Embarks On Reunion Tour – HuffPost

Pop music icon Phil Collins sadly admitted Thursday he could no longer play the drums. “I’d love to but I mean, I can barely hold a stick with this hand,” the frail-looking rocker told BBC Breakfast ahead of his Genesis band’s reunion tour. “There are certain physical things which get in the way.” (See the clip below.) Collins will sing with Genesis as he reunites with fellow members Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks for the first time since 2007. But he’ll leave the drumming to his son, Nic. “I’m physically challenged a bit, which is very frustrating because I’d love to be playing up there with my son,” he said. “He plays a bit like me when he wants to,” Collins commented, per NME. Collins, 70, has undergone multiple back surgeries ― one of them after falling in his bathroom ...
