The procedure must be precise, yet time is of the essence. A couple of minutes after intubation, there are signs of progress: The woman's heart rate and vital signs improve. For the patient, who is 75 years old, there's a chance for survival. Yet thousands of others across the nation are also hospitalized, and the prognosis for many is equally in question as they face the debilitating effects of Covid-19. More than 101,000 people in the US are hospitalized with Covid-19, according to HHS data as of Thursday, and nearly 26,000 are in ICUs. "We've seen overwhelming numbers of Covid patients," Hoo told CNN. "This is one of the worst waves that I've experienced. Things are as bad with Covid as they've ever been in Florida." Dr. Warren Abel, a critical care physician at St. Anthony's, said...

CDCs COVID travel map shows US is one of the riskiest places to travel – New York Post

Traveler beware. A map depicting the risk of COVID-19 in countries across the globe from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows the US is one of the most perilous places to visit amid the pandemic.  The map shows the risk of contracting the virus in each country and ranks locales with available data in four categories — low, moderate, high and very high risk. The CDC arrives at each determination primarily by calculating the incident rate of infection and new case trajectory over the last 28 days. The US has a Level 4 “very high” designation as the Delta variant continues to sweep through the country but so does a far reaching swath of other locales spanning a variety of income levels, vaccine availability and public health systems. For examp...

By John Powell – GlobalTV.com Kyland has taken the first shot in the Cookout civil war. He put Tiffany and Hannah on the block at the nomination ceremony today. Tiffany and Azah spoke alone afterwards. “Whatever is going to happen is going to happen. The best thing I can do is prepare myself and accept it. I have a son waiting at home. I have to be strong. Things are not always going to go how I want them to,” said a somber Tiffany. “I don’t know why YOU are giving ME a pep talk,” joked Azah. They both broke down laughing. They shared a hug. “I thought he would take a shot at some place else not at you,” said Azah suggesting that she believed Kyland would have targeted Xavier. “I am not surprised. James Wan returns to the funhouse with the nutty, gnarly Malignant – The A.V. Club

James Wan is a conductor of fear, and in more ways than one. Watch Insidious or The Conjuring, and it’s easy to picture the director standing in front of the screen as though it were an orchestra, baton in hand—guiding the stings of staccato violin, yes, but also the general rise and fall of tension, and maybe the predatory movements of the camera as it slinks around corners and races into petrified close-ups. It’s perhaps equally easy, however, to imagine Wan planted coaster-side, pulling a lever to lurch a few cars of screaming teens up a steep, rickety track. He makes music from the lowly jump scare, and turns multiplexes into funhouses, like a William Castle for the age of digital phantoms. He conducts horror. By either definition, that takes some chops. Wan’s new movie, Malignant, is...
