Michael B. Jordan Responds to Denzel Comparison, Plays Humble – TMZ

Play video content TMZ.com Michael B. Jordan was recently compared to Denzel Washington -- and after much internet debate ... the man himself has weighed in himself to us on camera. We got the movie star Friday night while leaving Catch in WeHo, and asked him what he made of people suggesting he's the next DW of his generation. Mike played it cool and humble ... saying the great Denzel is his "mentor," and saying it's all love between them. I’m having a debate, would y’all agree that Michael B Jordan is the next Denzel of our generation?— KB (@KBxScoe) August 12, 2021 @KBxScoe ...

CVS and Walgreens offering 3rd dose of COVID-19 vaccine for those with weakened immune systems – WLS-TV

CVS Pharmacy and Walgreens are both now administering COVID-19 booster shots, but only for those with weakened immune systems. It comes after the Food and Drug Administration ruled that transplant recipients and other similarly immune-compromised patients can get a third dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine. But the decision offers an extra dose only to those high-risk groups - not the general public. CVS says people can schedule vaccination appointments on their website. A spokesperson for the company said those who want the booster shot will also be required to confirm that they are immuno-compromised during the scheduling process as well as when they get the third dose. Walgreens locations nationwide are also offering the third dose following the FDA's Emergency Use Authoriz...

Some COVID deaths are linked to Western wildfires, study shows – Fox News

Wildfires raging in the West may also be fueling the coronavirus pandemic, according to a new study that has linked thousands of COVID-19 infections and hundreds of deaths to smoke from the blazes. Smoke from wildfires contains high levels of dangerous fine particulate matter or "PM 2.5," which is known to blunt the body's white blood cell function in the lungs. The impact compromises the body's immune response, making people more susceptible to the virus. WILDFIRES TAKE TOLL ON TROPICAL PACIFIC ISLANDS Harvard University researchers estimated that there were nearly 20,000 extra COVID-19 infections and 750 deaths associated with wildfire smoke exposure between March 15 and Dec. 16, 2020 in three western states. The study, published Friday in Science Advances, was co-authored by membe...

Erykah Badu Apologizes to Obamas for Being a Terrible Guest at Baracks 60th Birthday Party – Billboard

Erykah Badu is making sure to remain in the Obamas' good graces by apologizing for being a "terrible guest" at No. 44's 60th birthday party. The 50-year-old neo-soul artist was one of several all-star guests at the former president's private Hawaiian-themed birthday bash at Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts, which reportedly prohibited photography and videography. However, the "Bag Lady" singer broke the rules when she posted (and later deleted) a video on her Instagram Story of the birthday boy dancing with H.E.R. before giving her a hug. On Thursday, she issued a public apology. "Mr. And Mrs. Obama , Please forgive me 4 being the 'terrible guest ' at such a sacred event for your family," she wrote on Twitter. "I was so inconsiderate, Thank you for all your love. What an example of 'how...

COVID-19 Will Become Endemic in the Global Population – Mostly Childhood Disease Like Common-Cold – SciTechDaily

COVID-19 risks may shift from older adults to younger children as the SARS-CoV-2 virus becomes endemic, according to new modeling results. Within the next few years, as the SARS-CoV-2 virus becomes endemic in the global population, COVID-19 may behave like other common-cold coronaviruses, affecting mostly young children who have not yet been vaccinated or exposed to the virus, according to new modeling results. Because COVID-19 severity is generally lower among children, the overall burden from this disease is expected to decline. “Following infection by SARS-CoV-2, there has been a clear signature of increasingly severe outcomes and fatality with age,” said Ottar Bjornstad. “Yet, our modeling results suggest that the risk of infection will likely shift to younger children as ...

Companies mulling charging unvaccinated employees more for health coverage: report | TheHill – The Hill

Health analysts are saying that companies may begin charging unvaccinated employees more for their health insurance as the highly contagious delta variant fuels more COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations across the country.  Similar to the higher insurance premiums smokers may face due to being deemed a greater health risk, companies are now looking at the potential costs their unvaccinated employees may face should they get infected with COVID-19 and require medical treatment.  Wade Symons, a partner at benefits consulting firm Mercer Health, told CBS MoneyWatch on Friday that he expects some employers to increase health premiums for unvaccinated workers by as much as $20 to $50 per paycheck.  "Unvaccinated individuals have potential to cost the employer more from a health care ...
