TGIF: Elliot Page shows off his abs to celebrate the weekend – Page Six

Elliot Page showed off his 6-pack abs in a post celebrating the end of the week. “TGIF,” he simply captioned the shirtless selfie on Friday. In March, the “Umbrella Academy” star, 34, revealed he underwent top surgery to remove breast tissue for a more masculine appearance. “It has completely transformed my life,” he told Time magazine. He also told Oprah on her Apple TV+ show “The Oprah Conversation” that it has brought him joy following the surgery to get out of the shower, wrap a towel around his waist and look at himself in the mirror without panicking. “It’s being able to touch my chest and feel comfortable in my body for probably the first time,” he said. “Tears of joy.” The actor previously posted a photo of his fit physique in ...

Johnny Depp speaks out on Hollywoods boycott of him in first interview since losing libel case – Yahoo Entertainment

Johnny Depp is addressing what he calls "Hollywood's boycott of... me" in his first interview since losing his libel suit, and subsequent efforts to appeal it, against British tabloid The Sun over its characterization of him as a "wife beater." With yet another legal battle scheduled for next April — he's suing ex-wife Amber Heard in a $50 million defamation suit stemming from her 2018 Washington Post op-ed about domestic abuse — the 58-year-old actor is prevented from speaking about the case or his relationship with the Aquaman actress. But during his Zoom sit-down with the Sunday Times he did open up about the "surreal five years" he's had since being accused of abuse, including fallout from the Hollywood community. After losing his libel suit last fall, Depp announced that he was "aske...

More than a year later, America grapples with long Covid – CNN

According to multiple studies, long Covid may affect up to a third of Covid-19 patients. Smith is one of them, and people like her continue to feel the effects of the disease months, weeks, or, in Smith's case, more than a year after an acute infection. A study out of Stanford University reported that the most common persistent symptoms after Covid-19 were fatigue and trouble breathing, which impacted people's ability to work and do other activities. Participants in that study also reported memory problems, loss of taste and smell, and even hair loss. In late March of 2020, Smith, a school teacher from Baltimore, Maryland, went to her primary care doctor with a sore throat, shortness of breath, dizziness, diarrhea, and difficulty standing up -- some of the symptoms that are now recogniz...

6 more N.J. counties have high levels of COVID transmission, CDC says – NJ.com

Just four of New Jersey’s 21 counties are below the highest risk threshold for coronavirus transmission, as eight counties saw their rates rise. Seventeen counties have “high” rates of coronavirus transmission while the remaining four have “substantial” transmission, meaning masks are recommended for indoor public settings regardless of vaccination status in all New Jersey counties, the CDC says. The updated map is based on virus transmission rates over the past week. That number has risen substantially since the start of August, when just ten counties had virus levels high enough to warrant masks. Virus rates surpassed the threshold for masks to be recommended in all counties last week. Chart not showing? Click here. The four counties now considered to have “substantial” levels...

The Cure Bassist Simon Gallup Announces Departure From Band – Rolling Stone

The Cure bassist Simon Gallup announced Saturday that he is leaving the band after nearly 40 years with the goth-rock legends. “With a slightly heavy heart I am no longer a member of the Cure ! Good luck to them all,” Gallup wrote on Facebook. When asked by a fan if the exit was health-related, Gallup responded, “I’m ok… just got fed up of betrayal.” The Cure and singer Robert Smith have not yet commented on Gallup’s departure. However, the band’s longtime keyboardist Roger O’Donnell tweeted after Gallup’s announcement, “A friend just told me they saw Lol in the Guitar Centre buying a bass???????,” a nod to former Cure drummer/keyboardist Lol Tolhurst who left the band in 1989, Slicing Up Eyeballs reports.  Gallup, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019 a...

Breakthrough Metabolism Study Puts Blame On You, Not Sex Or Age Until 60 – The Daily Wire

We’ve all heard or used the excuse one or two dozen times before: the extra weight gain is because our metabolism has slowed down! Well, according to a new breakthrough study, that’s likely not true — not until your 60, anyway. The study, published last week in Science magazine, shows metabolism leveling off and staying put from ages 20 to 60. That’s right — your metabolism doesn’t slow down past stabilization until you’re 60 years old, and then it continues to slow down. What’s more, ladies, the study shows the stabilization in both men and women with no real differences between the metabolic rates. According to the study, here are the four different stages of metabolism, The New York Times outlined: There’s infancy, up until age 1, when calorie burning is at its peak, accelerating unt...
