Another field hospital with critical care capacity is now under construction on the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s campus – just days after the first in the state was opened in the parking garage of the medical center. The opening comes in response to a record number of COVID-19-related hospitalizations across the state, and an "increasingly dire" crisis, the hospital said on Monday. On Monday, Samaritan’s Purse began setting up the second surge facility for adult patients in another parking lot on the UMMC campus. Tuolumne Public Health reports three new COVID-19 deaths of individuals who were recently hospitalized; a man in his 60s, a woman in her 70s and a man in his 80s. A Humboldt County resident in their 60s has died with COVID-19, bringing to 59 the number of county residents who have died with the virus. The staff of the Department Operations Center share their condolences to the family, friends and caregivers of the person who died.  One hundred ninety-one new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the county since Friday. The total number of residents who have tested positive for the virus now stands at 6,161. Eight new hospitalizations were also reported, including one person in their 20s, one in their 30s, two in their 40s, two in their 50s, one in their 60s and one in their 70s. WASHINGTON — The Biden administration has decided that most Americans should get a coronavirus booster vaccination eight months after they received their second shot, and could begin offering third shots as early as mid- to late September, according to administration officials familiar with the discussions. Officials are planning to announce the administration’s decision as early as this week. Their goal is to let Americans who received the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccines know now that they will need additional protection against the Delta variant that is causing caseloads to surge across the nation.
