Samsung devices that support Samsung Pay can now store digital versions of users’ COVID-19 vaccination cards, through a partnership with healthcare nonprofit The Commons Project, the smartphone company announced. Users have to first download the free CommonHealth app from the Google Play store, and follow the instructions to access their COVID-19 vaccine record, from participating pharmacies, health systems, and health providers (not all providers are connected to the system yet). Once the user has access to their COVID-19 credential within the CommonHealth app, they can add it to their Samsung Pay wallet. The Covid-19 Vaccine Pass will then be available on the Samsung Pay app home page. Samsung Pay lets users store the...

Unvaccinated father of 3 dies of COVID in Alabama hospital: ‘Nobody should go through this,’ widow says – AL.com

Healthy and in their 30s, Christina and Josh Tidmore figured they were low-risk for COVID-19. With conflicting viewpoints about whether to get vaccinated against the virus filling their social media feeds and social circles, they decided to wait. On July 20, Josh came home from work with a slight cough initially thought to be sinus trouble. On Aug. 11, he died of COVID-19 at a north Alabama hospital as Christina Tidmore witnessed a doctor and her team frantically try to resuscitate her husband. “She would say, ‘I need a pulse. ‘I would hear, ‘no pulse,’ “Christina Tidmore said through tears. “They were trying so hard.” “Nobody should go through this. He was only 36 and I’m 35 and we have three kids.” She is now imploring young adults not to dismiss the risk and to consider getting ...

Company yanks sponsorship from Arnold Schwarzenegger over pro-mask rant where he said screw your freedom – TheBlaze

Arnold Schwarzenegger's pro-face mask tirade in which the former Republican governor declared "screw your freedom" has lost a corporate sponsor because of his rant. What did Schwarzenegger say? During an interview earlier this month, Schwarzenegger advocated for COVID-19 precautions and mocked Americans opposed to wearing face masks. "I think people should know, there is a virus here. It kills people, and the only way we prevent it is to get vaccinated, to wear masks, to do social distancing, washing your hands all the time, and not just to think about, 'Well my freedom is being disturbed here,'" Schwarzenegger said. "No, screw your freedom!" he declared. "Because with freedom comes obligations and responsibilities, you cannot just say, 'I have the right to X, Y, Z,' when...

A Guide to Covid Vaccine Booster Shots – The New York Times

This week, the Biden administration strongly recommended booster shots for most vaccinated Americans, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also released three studies that federal officials said provided evidence that booster shots of the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna coronavirus vaccines would be needed in the coming months. Here’s what we know about booster shots — why Americans may need them and when they should get them: The case for a booster shot Taken together, the C.D.C. studies show that although the vaccines remain highly effective against hospitalizations and deaths, the bulwark they provide against infection with the virus has weakened in the past few months. The finding accords with early data from seven states, gathered this week by The New York Times, suggesti...
