NXT recap & reactions (Aug. 24, 2021) : At odds until we’re even – Cageside Seats

Culture Clash with The Culture You all know I love Hit Row probably as much or more than Kyle loves The Blade. They are my wrestling Wu-Tang Clan, and I truly believe they ain’t nothing to F’ with. But there are moments when this beef with Legado Del Fantasma feels like it might go off the rails. The feud plays around with race and ethnic traditions to reinforce the differences between the two factions. We’re not in cringeworthy territory yet, and I hope we never get there, but I have to acknowledge the giraffe in the room before even digging into the wrestling. Cool? Cool. Remember a couple weeks ago when I juxtaposed Hit Row’s unity with Legado Del Fantasma’s lack of unity? Yeah that’s not a thing anymore. Santos Escobar’s group worked like a Swiss watch in this match, di...

Frames of Future Past

Text by Zaral Shah. Photographed by Joshua Navalkar Taking inspiration from memories and experiences that span two decades, Gaurav Ogale’s audio-visual mixed media piece majha portrays the world as seen by the artist from the many windows that have been his refuge over the years as he moved from city to city. Co-created with sound artist Farah Mulla, this piece was born as a response to the broader theme of the show Shifting Selves: Between meaning, mythology and mirage, curated by the Sarmaya Arts Foundation. Ogale’s work is often about evoking nostalgia and presenting a visual documentation of our times: “My journals have been my confidants over the years because they have trave...

Warner Bros. Reveals New Footage of ‘The Matrix 4’ and ‘The Batman’ at CinemaCon – Variety

Taking a low-key approach, Warner Bros. presented new footage Tuesday for its theatrical slate over the next seven months without significant dating changes, and without the normal ritual of top brass on hand at exhibitors’ confab CinemaCon in Las Vegas. The studio’s reel shown at the showroom at Caesars Palace included new footage of “The Batman” starring Robert Pattinson and the opening sequence for “The Many Saints of Newark” that is a prequel to “The Sopranos.” A glimpse at the first trailer for “The Matrix 4” was also revealed, along with its title: “The Matrix: Resurrections.” For Clint Eastwood’s neo-Western drama “Cry Macho,” the presentation was a mini-homage to Eastwood’s career with praise via recorded comments by Steven Spielberg, Meryl Streep and other cinema lumina...

‘Matrix 4′ Trailer & Title Unveiled During Warner Bros’ CinemaCon Reel – Deadline

Warner Bros came with a huge reveal Tuesday at its CinemaCon presentation: the trailer for its Village Roadshow co-production Matrix 4. And Warners also gave us the official title too: The Matrix: Resurrections. The trailer begins with Neil Patrick Harris talking to Keanu Reeves’ Neo. A near future San Francisco. It appears that Neo is trapped in a humdrum world, much like his first self in the 1999 movie. He’s just not getting his surroundings. “Am I crazy?” asks Reeves’ Neo. “We don’t use that word in here,” says Harris’ therapist. Reeves comes in contact with Carrie Anne Moss’ Trinity in a cafe: “Have we met?” she asks Neo. A shot of blue pills spilling into a sink, as Jefferson Airplane’s “White Rabbit” song plays. Then a shot of Neo distorting into an old man in...
