English actor Jack Farthing is starring alongside Stewart as the heir apparent to the British throne. First-look photos of Stewart as Diana have set the internet ablaze, but film fans had been eagerly waiting to hear the American actor’s take on Diana’s British accent. Yet it appears the companies behind “Spencer,” Neon and Topic Studios, want to keep people guessing since Stewart only utters two words in the minute-long...

ABC News President Calls for Independent Investigation of Sexual Assault Allegations – The Wall Street Journal

ABC News President Kim Godwin told staffers on a conference call Thursday that she has requested an independent investigation into how the network handled allegations of sexual assault against the former executive producer of “Good Morning America.” The comments came a day after a lawsuit was filed that alleged the producer, Michael Corn, sexually assaulted a current ABC News staffer and a former staffer in separate incidents. Mr. Corn denied wrongdoing and called the allegations fabrications. In response to a request for comment Thursday on the call for an ABC probe, a lawyer for Mr. Corn referred to his previous statement. “We can’t have us investigating us. We need an independent person,” Ms. Godwin said, according to a recording of the conference call...

I Expect You To Die 2 review: the most fun I’ve had solving puzzles this year – The Verge

You’re not really a secret agent until you put on a funny hat and fake mustache while you’re trying to stop an evil conglomerate from filling a theater with poison gas. At least, that’s what I Expect You To Die 2 posits, and I think it’s about right. I Expect You To Die 2: The Spy and The Liar is a sequel to one of the first hit virtual reality titles, which was released by Schell Games in 2016 for first-gen VR headsets. The series riffs on James Bond and other classic super spy franchises. Using motion controls and a headset, you play a field agent whose missions invariably turn into convoluted deathtraps, and you have to escape using whatever objects happen to be nearby. Behind its tongue-in-cheek tone and colorful retro stylings, it’s a master class in translating an often frustr...

Respiratory infections other than Covid-19 are filling up pediatric wards – CNN

On top of it, many are infected with a second virus at the same time -- usually respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV. A fresh surge of Covid-19 is colliding with an unseasonable epidemic of RSV, and it's landing kids in hospitals across the country. "The past few days, the past week, we've been seeing high numbers of children coming in," said Dr. Sarah Combs, a pediatric emergency medicine physician at Children's National Hospital in Washington, DC. "You name it -- anything from the common cold to pneumonia to having respiratory distress, meaning we need to get some support breathing, and they're just coming in in higher and higher numbers," Combs told CNN. "In the summer, typically RSV is a non-issue. It's just not there." It's the same in Texas. "This Delta surge has been coupled with th...

An artistic rendering of antibodies surrounding a SARS-CoV-2 particle. An antibody therapy that appears to neutralize all known SARS-CoV-2 strains, and other coronaviruses, was developed with a little help from structural biologist Jay Nix. Lifesaving COVID-19 vaccines are allowing us to feel optimistic again, after more than a year of anxiety and tragedy. But vaccines are only one side of the coin – we also need treatments that can prevent severe disease after someone has been infected. In the past year, there has been significant progress in developing effective antibody-based therapies, and three drugs are currently available through emergency use authorization (EUA) by the Food and Drug Administration. Sotrovimab, the newest antibody therapy, was developed by GlaxoSmithKline...

(Tyler O'Neill/Adobe Stock) WASHINGTON — A dozen people have been hospitalized with salmonella and two dozen sickened as of Aug. 24 in multistate outbreaks of two different strains of salmonella, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Wednesday. People who became sick reported eating salami, prosciutto and other deli meats that can be found in antipasto or charcuterie assortments. "Investigators are working to identify specific contaminated products and determine if the two outbreaks are linked to the same food source," the CDC said. "Until we identify which Italian-style meats are making people sick, heat all It...
