Father Of 5 Dies Of COVID After Texting I Should Have Gotten The Damn Vaccine’ – HuffPost

A Nevada woman is sharing her family’s heartbreak after her fiance expressed regret about not getting the COVID-19 vaccine shortly before dying from the disease. “He was only 39; our babies now don’t have a dad,” Jessica DuPreez told Las Vegas station KVVU. “You can’t say, ‘I’m young, and it won’t affect me.’ Because it will.” DuPreez said she and her fiance, Michael Freedy, wanted to wait until the vaccine had been available for a year, to see how it might affect people. “There was never any intention to not get it,” she said. Shortly after the couple traveled to San Diego for vacation with their five kids, ages 1 to 17, DuPreez said Freedy fell ill from a bad sunburn and had to be admitted to an ER. There, he tested positive for COVID-19 and his health went downhill. “He’s ...

Master of crime, too? Stephen King hits the mark with assassination thriller Billy Summers – USA TODAY

It’s downright unfair, really: Not only is Stephen King an undisputed master of horror, he’s a virtuosic crime novelist as well. Look out, bodice-ripping romance, he’s probably coming for you next. King has been dipping into noir and detective thrillers recently with the “Mr. Mercedes” trilogy, “The Outsider” and "Later," but his new book, “Billy Summers” (Scribner, 528 pp., ★★★½ out of four, out Tuesday), proves this run is no fluke: He actually is as good at the hard-boiled prose – in this case, the tale of an extremely effective assassin trying to get out after one last job – as he is the scary stuff. There’s also multiple coming-of-age stories, a book-within-a-book, an overarching mystery, a dash of political commentary, some twists and a touching side to the narrative exploring the f...

Billie Eilish slammed for saying ‘hi Israel’ in promo video – The Jerusalem Post

A promotional TikTok video for the Israel market by indie pop sensation Billie Eilish for her new album "Happier Than Ever" in which she says “hi Israel” has raised the ire of Israel haters. “Hi Israel, I’m so excited that my new album, Happier Than Ever, is out now,” she said in the 20-second clip.   The Israellycool blog reported that the innocuous greeting was met with a barrage of online reaction criticizing Eilish for acknowledging Israel’s existence. One responder wrote: “Educate yourself and see what Israel are doing for Palestinian children [sic].” cnxps.cmd.push(function () { cnxps({ playerId: '36af7c51-0caf-4741-9824-2c941fc6c17b' }).render('4c4d856e0e6f4e3d808bbc1715e132f6'); }); if(window.location.pathname.indexOf("656089") != -1){docum...

Coronavirus transmission among vaccinated people could raise the risk of an even more dangerous variant – Business Insider

The CDC says vaccinated people should mask up indoors again as cases of the Delta variant surge.  A study suggests that transmission among vaccinated people could lead to new variants that evade vaccines. The virus is "just a few mutations potentially away" from evading vaccines, the CDC said. Loading Something is loading. ...

Hundreds of staffers at two San Francisco hospitals test positive | TheHill – The Hill

At least 233 staffers at a pair of San Francisco hospitals have tested positive for COVID-19, the majority of whom were fully vaccinated but became infected with the delta variant. More than 50 cases were discovered among staff members at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, the hospital’s chief medical officer, Lukejohn Day, told The New York Times on Saturday. Of those who tested positive, roughly 75 to 80 percent were fully vaccinated. The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Medical Center, said 183 staff members had tested positive as of Friday, 153 of whom were fully vaccinated, the Times reported. Most of the infections were reportedly from the highly infectious delta variant, which has taken hold in the U.S. as the dominant COVID-19 strain. Two of the ...

Fauci warns things are going to get worse with COVID – ABC News

As the country grapples with a surge in the delta variant of the COVID-19 coronavirus, Dr. Anthony Fauci believes that lockdowns the country saw last year are likely to not return, though he warned "things will get worse" during an interview on ABC's "This Week." "I don't think we're gonna see lockdowns. I think we have enough of the percentage of people in the country -- not enough to crush the outbreak -- but I believe enough to not allow us to get into the situation we were in last winter. But things are going to get worse," the nation's top infectious disease expert told "This Week" co-anchor Jonathan Karl on Sunday. "If you look at the acceleration of the number of cases, the seven-day average has gone up substantially. You know what we really need to do, Jon, we say it over and ov...

Air Fryer Zucchini Fritters

These 10-minute air fryer zucchini fritters are a healthier version of the favorite fried snack and pair well with sour cream or a healthy yogurt dip. With the end of summer in sight, I thought I’d sneak in a quick and easy zucchini recipe. So today we’ll be making some air fryer zucchini fritters. I was initially a tiny bit skeptical about how a batter-based food would do in the air fryer but the results were great and they browned up just nicely. These fritters have some feta/goat/Parmesan cheese, a couple of seasonings and fresh chives to brighten up the flavor. The air fryer is proving again and again to be a good kitchen investment for those healthier and quicker meals. I’ve had great success so far with air fryer honey garlic salmon and air fryer honey mustard salmon and ...

Morgan Wallen surprises Luke Bryan at first concert appearance since racial slur scandal: ‘Only in Nashville’ – Fox News

Morgan Wallen made his first major concert appearance since he was filmed hurling the N-word back in February. The country artist, 28, hit the stage at Luke Bryan’s concert in Nashville, Tenn., on Friday night and joined Jason Aldean and Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard and sang his records "Whiskey Glasses" and "More Than My Hometown" before hanging out on stage while Aldean belted "She’s Country." "A really good friend of mine is here backstage tonight," Aldean told a perplexed Bryan onstage. "I don’t know if you know this." "Do I need another tequila shot to get through this?" Bryan quipped. It was then that the embattled Wallen waltzed down the narrow catwalk and greeted his country companions to a cheering sold-out audience as he handed out shot glasses. MORGAN WALLEN SAYS ...
