Jason Momoa calls out New York Times for icky interview question – New York Post

There are no stupid questions, but there are “icky” ones, according to Jason Momoa. The 42-year-old Hawaiian actor went cold during an interview with New York Times journalist David Marchese after the writer asked Momoa if he regretted filming a graphic rape scene during his breakout performance as Khal Drogo on HBO’s “Game of Thrones.” The pilot episode of the series saw Momoa’s barbaric warlord Drogo assault and force himself on his would-be queen Daenerys Targaryen, played by Emilia Clarke, 34. When Marchese asked whether Momoa “thinks differently about those scenes today,” he replied, “Well, it was important to depict Drogo and his style. You’re playing someone that’s like Genghis Khan.” He continued, “It was a really, really, really hard thing...

Americas Got Talent contestant departs show due to cancer battle – CNN

CNN —   “America’s Got Talent” star Jane Marczewski has withdrawn from the competition due to health issues as she battles cancer. The 30-year-old Ohio native, who goes by the nickname “Nightbirde,” took to Instagram on Monday to announce her departure from the show. “Sharing my heart with the world on AGT has been an honor and a dream come true. My point of view this summer has been astounding,” Marczewski wrote. “What a miracle that the pain I’ve walked through can be reworked into beauty that makes people all over the world open their eyes wider.” She went on to write, “Since my audition, my health has taken a turn for the worse and the fight with cancer is demanding all of my energy and a...

Delta variant drives nationwide COVID surge, prompting new mandates – CBS News

Healthcare workers in Missouri are bearing the brunt as hospitalizations among people with COVID-19 have nearly doubled in a month.   The hardest hit area includes Springfield, where there's been a dramatic rise of COVID-19 patients in one hospital system since mask mandates were lifted before two big holiday weekends. CoxHealth brought in a new morgue and doubled its oxygen reserves to prepare for the anticipated rise in cases and deaths. On Monday, it had 187 coronavirus patients — its highest ever.  "We're very concerned at this point because we are headed back into school and we have seen disease spreading in our kids who are not vaccinated and don't have the option to be vaccinated," said Katie Towns, director of Springfield-Greene County Health Department.  As bad as the sit...

Maine reports 255 new cases of COVID-19 over 3 days – Press Herald

Maine reported 255 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, a summary of new infections that were detected over the last three days. There were no additional deaths. The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention does not report case numbers over the weekend, so Tuesday’s totals reflect cases reported on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. The new case numbers reflect rising rates of infection in York, Penobscot and Lincoln counties, enough to put those counties into the “substantial” transmission category where the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend mask wearing indoors for all people. Waldo County remains, in the “high” transmission category, where mask wearing is also recommended. Although the Maine CDC has adopted the federal mask-wearing recommendation, the agen...

Keto diets are a ‘disease-promoting disaster,’ researchers warn – Study Finds

WASHINGTON — Ketogenic diets may be very fashionable right now, but a new study warns they may be doing long-term damage to your health. Researchers say that what makes these high-fat diets different from other weight loss strategies is also increasing the risk of developing a multitude of different diseases. Those include heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and even Alzheimer’s disease. “The typical keto diet is a disease-promoting disaster,” says lead review author Lee Crosby, RD, nutrition education program manager at Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, in a media release. “Loading up on red meat, processed meat, and saturated fat and restricting carbohydrate-rich vegetables, fruits, legumes, and whole grains is a recipe for bad health.” Crosby and a team from NYU’s Grossma...

Dwayne Johnson Answers A F**ked Up Question About His Abs – HuffPost

“Jungle Cruise” stars Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt sat down for Wired’s autocomplete interview, answering questions based on the Google search feature. And one query asked: What’s wrong with The Rock’s abs? “That’s so fucked up,” Johnson said, laughing. “That is fucked up,” Blunt agreed, but then asked: “What is wrong with them?”  Johnson said there’s nothing wrong with his abs, but that he doesn’t have a traditional “six-pack” like many Instagram fitness models. “I got like a five and a half pack, sometimes a four and a half pack,” he said.  There’s also another issue with that area of his body. Johnson had to undergo a triple hernia emergency surgery after he was injured in a 2013 WWE wrestling event. He explained what happened ― and how it was repaired ― in gruesome detai...

Kathy Griffin reveals past suicide attempt, pill addiction amid lung cancer diagnosis – Fox News

Kathy Griffin revealed she struggled with pill addiction and thoughts of suicide after receiving backlash for a controversial photo shootin 2017.  The comedian, 60, who revealed she is battling stage one lung cancer on Monday, sat down for an interview with ABC News in which she detailed the past four years and the spiral her life took after facing immense backlash after posing with a bloodied, severed head with the likeness of then-President Donald Trump.  After an apology and a subsequent rescinding of that apology, Griffin embarked on the cheekily titled "Laugh Your Head Off" tour in 2017. She noted that it was around that time that she was introduced to pills, leading to a behind-the-scenes battle that would ultimately lead to a suicide attempt.  "I thought, ‘Well, I don't even dr...

COVID-19 is spreading fast among Texas’ unvaccinated. Here’s who they are and where they live. – KSAT San Antonio

Exhortations to get a coronavirus vaccine are all around, but Brad Offutt has decided to reject them. The 53-year-old is a pain therapist in Marble Falls, a town of about 6,000 people in Burnet County, and he said he wants to see the vaccines get full approval — rather than the current emergency authorization — by the Food and Drug Administration before he gets one. But even then, Offutt said that the chances of him doing so are slim since he “doesn’t feel threatened by COVID personally.” Instead he’s made the decision to “take the risk of getting COVID.” The coronavirus vaccines have been thoroughly tested and found to be safe and effective. More than 340 million doses have been given in the U.S., and side effects have been determined by the FDA and independent researchers to be extreme...
