A cautionary tale: Louisiana doctors face a different COVID-19 surge – Yahoo News

By Brad Brooks NEW ORLEANS (Reuters) - Doctors in Louisiana have been through it before: the exhaustion, the grief, and the overflowing intensive care units. But this new surge of COVID-19 cases driven by the Delta variant is different, not least because it did not have to be. “Where we are now was preventable, and that’s what is so hard for my colleagues in hospitals to stomach,” said Rebekah Gee, who until last year was the health secretary for Louisiana and now heads Louisiana State University’s healthcare services division. “It’s very frustrating and unfair for doctors to see preventable suffering.” The national vaccination campaign that began in the past year offered a new weapon against the novel coronavirus besides masks and social distancing. Gossip Girl Reboot: Episode 5 Recap: Nelly Yuki Returns On Halloween – TVLine

If there’s one thing I know about Gen Z, it’s that those kids go crazy for Bette Midler, so it’s only fitting that the Gossip Girl reboot’s first Halloween episode took place at Midler’s annual charity costume party. It was an hour loaded with tricks and treats, including (gasp!) the first appearance by a cast member from the original CW series. As part of Julien’s desperate quest to convince the world that she and Zoya really are friends, she vowed to win this year’s costume contest as a duo. Not even a thwarted shooting at a neighboring school could take her eyes of the prize. In fact, Julien became even more determined to blow her social media rivals — Pippa and Bianca, naturally — out of the water when she realized that they might garner sympathy votes to offset the trauma of...

The Deadpool star shares daughters (and Taylor Swift's folklore muses) James, 6, Inez, 4, and Betty, 1, with his wife Blake Lively and admitted in a SiriusXM interview that his current family life is a lot different from how he grew up. “I was the youngest of four boys, so I find doors to be a privilege,” he explained. “For the most part I was thrown through walls. I was a moving target, I was emergency harvestable organs. You name it, I was that, as the youngest of four large, strapping boys. I include my dad, because he wa...

Study Finds Greater Antibody Response In Recovered COVID-19 Patients Than Vaccinated Ones – The Federalist

A new study has found that individuals that have previously contracted COVID-19 show a more potent antibody response than those who were solely vaccinated for the respiratory virus. Conducted by a research team at Rockefeller University in New York, the analysis found “that between a first (prime) and second (booster) shot of either the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccine, the memory B cells of infection-naïve individuals produced antibodies that evolved increased neutralizing activity against SARS-CoV-2,” but also that “no additional increase in the potency or breadth of this activity was observed thereafter.” Meanwhile, researchers determined that not only do recovered COVID-19 patients possess neutralizing antibodies up to a year after infection, but that such infection simultaneo...
