A 30-year-old Florida woman battling COVID-19 died on August 6, just days after undergoing an emergency C-section weeks before her due date. She was only able to hold her newborn "for a few short minutes" before being rushed to the ICU and soon after put on a ventilator, her family said.  Kristen McMullen had started to develop symptoms of COVID-19 roughly three weeks before her due date, her family said. She was soon in the hospital with COVID pneumonia — a common complication from the virus. Most of the weight gain anxiety dieters get revolves around the belief that eating “fast carbs” will make you fat. However, a new study finds there’s really no difference between fast or slow carbs when it comes to weight gain — or weight loss. In a report commissioned by the Grain Foods Foundation, scientists discovered little difference in how high-glycemic and low-glycemic foods impact weight management. The glycemic index (GI) ranks how quickly a certain food raises blood sugar levels. The theory is that high-GI foods raise glucose levels and insulin secretion, which may lead to health issues through overeating. A new mother from Florida died from the coronavirus just days after giving birth to her newborn daughter. Kristen McMullen, 30, was forced to deliver her baby several weeks early following complications with her pregnancy after contracting the virus.  It is not known whether McMullen ever received the COVID vaccine.  Doctors became concerned after she began to have breathing problems which also saw her unborn child receiving less oxygen in the womb.  Her symptoms became so bad that doctors at the Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne had to perform an emergency C-Section to deliver her baby girl, Summer Reign.
