Some San Francisco-area restaurants reinstate mask requirements, cut unvaccinated workers over new guidance – Fox News

After San Francisco Bay Area health officials issued new guidance Friday recommending that everyone – even those who are vaccinated – should wear masks indoors, many restaurants are now reportedly requiring them again for their employees.  And at least one employer has decided to lay off any unvaccinated employees just to be safe, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.  "If anyone doesn’t want to get vaccinated, we will let them go," Zareen Khan, owner of Pakistani/Indian restaurant Zareen’s, told the newspaper. "It’s terrible, but we need people to understand this is serious. It’s better to be cautious than to be sorry." She said most of her employees are vaccinated.  Cases have ticked up across the state mostly due to the delta variant. In Los Angeles officials are now mandating ev...

That Space Jam cameo isnt Rick And Morty selling out, its Rick And Morty being sold – The A.V. Club

From right to left: Rick, Morty, a weird badger thing.Screenshot: HBO Max Rick Sanchez wants your money. That’s not a secret—in fact, it’s a point Rick And Morty had returned to again and again, across its now five seasons on the air: There is no principle, friend, or family member that the gleefully amoral super scientist will not betray for a juicy enough incentive, or a big enough pile of cash. The mercenary attitude of the show’s central character extends well outside its universe, too: If you want Rick Sanchez to yell “Wubba Lubba Dub Dub!” while telling millennials to shove Hardee’s hamburgers in their faces—or show up to add some inexplicable Adult Swim cred to your new Space Jam movie—it’s pretty easy to pull off. Just pay the man, and make it happen. Series co-creator/star J...

Texas patient becomes U.S. first monkeypox case since 2003 – CBS News

A Dallas, Texas, resident who recently returned from Nigeria has tested positive for monkeypox, a rare virus similar to smallpox, local officials said Friday. Though this is the first confirmed case of the virus in the U.S. since 2003, officials said the public should not be concerned.  "While rare, this case is not a reason for alarm and we do not expect any threat to the general public," Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins said in a statement from Dallas County's health department. Because passengers were wearing masks on the flight and in the airport, the health department said, "It's believed the risk of spread of monkeypox via respiratory droplets to others on the planes and in the airports is low."  Monkeypox, which is in the same family of viruses as smallpox, is a rare but pot...

Shailene Woodley and Aaron Rodgers were engaged for months and months before going public – Yahoo Entertainment

Shailene Woodley and Aaron Rodgers. (Getty Images)The world learned that Shailene Woodley and Aaron Rodgers were engaged in February, as he thanked his "fiancée" while accepting the MVP award at the NFL Honors, but the couple had made the decision to walk down the aisle long before that. "When we announced that we were engaged, we wanted to do that only because we didn't want someone else to do it before we did," Woodley told the Hollywood Reporter for an interview published Friday. "And we didn't do it for months and months after we had become engaged, but the reaction to it was really a lot, and so we were like, 'Let's just politely decline [to talk about the relationship] for a little while and live in our little bubble.'" Woodley and Rodgers have since revealed that they began dating...

COVID-19 patient discharged from hospital after 187 days | TheHill – The Hill

A man who was hospitalized with COVID-19 was released Friday after more than 6 months, AL.com reports. Ricky Hamm, 50, was the longest-staying COVID-19 patient at the UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Ala. "When it first started, we just thought we’d be here a couple of weeks and it won’t be that long," his wife Shannon Hamm said of his hospitalization. "But it turned into a long ordeal." Hamm called finally being discharged "surreal" as he walked out of the hospital with the help of a walker. "It’s been a long journey," he told AL.com. "I guess I haven’t really fathomed that it’s coming to an end. But it’s slowly starting to give me butterflies." During his hospital stay, he spent almost five months on life support, according to the report. He was attached to a extracorporeal me...
