Whoops, Netflix killed a bunch of shows while we were all busy getting ready to look at fireworks – The A.V. Club

Left: Kevin James in The Crew (Eric Leibowitz/Netflix), Right: Gabriel Iglesias in Mr. Iglesias (Kevin Estrada/Netflix) We’ve never been the showrunners or stars of a moderate-to-low-rated TV comedy—alas!—but if we were, we can’t imagine a more horrifying time of day to contemplate than the late afternoon on the Friday before a three-day weekend. While everyone else is rushing off to hit the beach or drink stupor-ward or just generally not look at their phones, our hypothetical creators know that this is, more often than not, the Killing Hour—the time when networks can dump a lot of shows off their schedules all at once, without getting nearly as much pushback as they otherwise might. All of which is to say: Netflix pulled out the axe this evening, with Variety reporting that the stre...

COVID-19 Statistics | July 2, 2021 – Lost Coast Outpost

Five new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Humboldt County today. One previously reported case was removed because it was determined to be a duplicate. The total number of county residents who have tested positive now stands at 4,586.  Additional cases of the significantly more contagious Delta variant were identified in Humboldt County this week. Delta is anticipated to become the predominant strain locally as in the rest of the country, where it is responsible for one in every four new infections, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  Public health officials urge community members to get vaccinated and continue to follow common-sense measures to protect themselves, as well as children and medically vulnerable members of the community.  Wear a face ...

Oregon proclaims it hit 70% vaccination goal against COVID-19 – OregonLive

The Oregon Health Authority declared success Friday in its quest to vaccinate 70% of adults, commemorating the milestone two days after the state fully reopened and just ahead of a long holiday weekend. Oregon’s declaration was in part preemptive, with federal data showing 2,206 adults still in need of a first dose to officially hit the target. But state officials who have long used that same federal data to track Oregon’s progress said Friday they’re confident those people have already received vaccinations but are not yet accounted for in the official tally. “The 70% adult vaccination goal means we have a better chance to sustain a safe reopening,” Patrick Allen, director of the Oregon Health Authority, said in a statement. “The safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines continue to drive...

Missouri hospital CEO: Vaccine opponents should Shut up – Yahoo News

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — One Missouri hospital official is telling anyone making disparaging remarks about the COVID-19 vaccine to “Shut up” as state officials ask for federal help dealing with a surge in cases that has some counties urging new precautions. Deep vaccine resistance has allowed the delta variant, first identified India, to take hold in the state, straining hospitals, particularly in the Springfield area. “If you are making wildly disparaging comments about the vaccine, and have no public health expertise, you may be responsible for someone’s death. Shut up,” tweeted Steve Edwards, who is the CEO of CoxHealth in Springfield. CoxHealth and the city's other hospital, Mercy Springfield, were treating 168 COVID-19 patients Friday, up from 31 on May 24, before the surge began, sa...

Bruce Lee’s daughter has spoken up to say she finds Quentin Tarantino’s take on her father exhausting.  “I’m really f – – king tired of white men in Hollywood trying to tell me who Bruce Lee was,” Shannon Lee wrote in a Hollywood Reporter guest column response to the director’s comments about her dad made on Joe Rogan’s Spotify podcast.  “Where I’m coming from is … I can understand his daughter having a problem with it, it’s her f – – king father! I get that. But anybody else?
