Just one night of sleep loss harms your well-being, new study finds – CNN

"Consecutive sleep loss was associated with decreases in positive emotions, increases in negative emotions, and greater frequency of severity of physical symptoms," said Soomi Lee, lead author of the study, which published Monday in the Annals of Behavioral Medicine. Lee, an assistant professor at the University of South Florida's School of Aging Studies and director of the Sleep, Stress and Health (STEALTH) Lab, studies sleep and the diverse factors that influence it across populations. Scientists Press Case Against the Covid Lab Leak Theory – The New York Times

In the latest volley of the debate over the origins of the coronavirus, a group of scientists this week presented a review of scientific findings that they argue shows a natural spillover from animal to human is a far more likely cause of the pandemic than a laboratory incident. Among other things, the scientists point to a recent report showing that markets in Wuhan, China, had sold live animals susceptible to the virus, including palm civets and raccoon dogs, in the two years before the pandemic began. They observed the striking similarity that Covid-19’s emergence had to other viral diseases that arose through natural spillovers, and pointed to a variety of newly discovered viruses in animals that are closely related to the one that caused the new pandemic. The back and forth among s...

According to the group’s label, Big Hit Music, “Permission to Dance” is “dedicated to anyone who is having a bad day or is discouraged in the face of reality.” Providing comfort in the midst of darkness i...

SF Gay Mens Chorus Sticks by Controversial Song, Claim Death Threats – TMZ

Play video content San Francisco Gay Mens Chorus The San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus is not backing down from a controversial song in the wake of what they claim is a wave of death threats coming their way. Here's the deal ... the SFGMC recently posted a song across social media where they satirically sing, "We'll convert your children," but they say it's being taken out of context and they're getting lots of hateful backlash, including violent threats. Health: Castration could help men to live LONGER, sheep study suggests – Daily Mail

Male sheep who have been castrated might live as much as 60 per cent longer than their intact counterparts by delaying the aging of DNA, a study has found. And it's even possible that testes removal may offer the same benefits for human men as well, researchers led from the University of Otago have suggested. It is well known that women and ewes tend to outlive men and rams, respectively — and the new findings shine a light on the role of male hormones in this phenomenon. Alongside this, the team said that the methods they used could be applied to allow farmers to tell which sheep will live longer and, by extension, be more productive. It may also provide a DNA-analysis-based means to determine when meat sold in the supermarket as succulent lamb is really mutton in disguise.  Scroll down ...
