Mindy Kaling apologizes to Stephen Colbert for bra she was wearing when he walked in on her changing – Yahoo Entertainment

During The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Wednesday, the host paused the show to apologize for an incident that happened between him and guest Mindy Kaling before the taping of the show. And after bantering back and forth about who was actually going to bring it up, Kaling gave us the naked truth. She said that she was backstage getting changed and was in just a pair of pants and her bra. And that’s when Colbert came in - to the room and the story. “And I don't usually do this. I usually wait til the guests are in the wings,” Colbert said. “But I thought I would just go, ‘hey have a great show.’ So I popped the door open. I knocked, but I did that knock and pop.” The pair have worked together over the years and are clearly pretty close. So perhaps that’s what made it all the more surprisi...

Soft Pop to Soothe the Soul

Verve People Text by Ranjabati Das. Photographs by Sawani Kumar The singer-songwriter is back. Seven years ago, at 20, he dropped his first EP Skunk In The Cellar, a collection of five love songs that dealt with heartbreak and received a favourable response from critics and listeners alike. He then went into a self-imposed exile, choosing to perform exclusively under aliases instead of releasing music under his own name. He was already making music with Run It’s The Kid, the Delhi-based band that he formed with Dhruv Bhola (guitar), Danik Ghosh (bass) and Bhairav Gupta (drums) in 2013. In 2016 came the solo act Morning Mourning, a name that he says he does not miss. He claims to have outg...

Cinderella Guitarist Jeff LaBar Dead at 58 – Rolling Stone

Jeff LaBar, best known as the guitarist for glam metal band Cinderella, has died. His son Sebastian confirmed the news on Wednesday via a social media post. He was 58. The cause of death was not disclosed. “My father, my hero, my idol, passed away today. I’m currently at a loss for words. I love you pop!,” Sebastian wrote via Instagram. “If you could, please share pictures or video of all the fun times we all had with my dad. It would be greatly appreciated.” LaBar linked up with Cinderella in 1985, after founding guitarist Michael Schermick departed. He joined the Philadelphia band as they were signing to Mercury/Polygram and remained in the band through 2017. In 1986, they released their debut album, Night Songs. The LP’s breakthrough single “Nobody’s Fool” reached Number 13 and...

Brain implant helps man speak through a computer – CNN

They're calling it a neuroprosthesis, and while it's only one patient for now, the team at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) hopes their device may help other paralyzed people communicate. "To our knowledge, this is the first successful demonstration of direct decoding of full words from the brain activity of someone who is paralyzed and cannot speak," said Dr. Edward Chang, a neurosurgeon at UCSF who led the research team. "It shows strong promise to restore communication by tapping into the brain's natural speech machinery," Chang said in a statement. The team implanted an array of electrodes over the area of the brain that controls speech in a man who suffered a stroke that left him paralyzed and unable to speak at age 20. "Since his injury, he has had extremely limit...

The Future of Ice Cream Is Here, and It’s Vegan

There’s a controversial, utterly modern, and endlessly discussed movement taking place here in the city of Portland, Oregon, where I live. You may have seen it breathlessly depicted in the national media or shared again and again, with infinite commentary, online. I am, of course, referring to vegan ice cream. Portland is positively awash with it: coconut soft serve floats, psychotropic chromagraphic nouveau kulfi, vegan donutteries with hour-long brunch lines serving pink bubblegum soft serve in a charcoal waffle, Szechuan chickpea strawberry scoops, plant-based paletas, and more—much more—with at least a dozen individual establishments serving vegan ice cream riffs within a 15-minute drive of my house. Even the classic ice cream shops are ge...

Tiger King Joe Exotic will be resentenced after a court order – CNN

The US 10th Circuit Court of Appeals vacated Maldonado-Passage's 264-month prison sentence, which was handed down last year for the murder-for-hire plots involving animal rights activist Carole Baskin as well as multiple wildlife violations. Maldonado-Passage had filed an appeal arguing that his murder-for-hire convictions should be overturned because the trial court allowed Baskin to attend his entire trial even though she was a listed government witness. The two counts he was sentenced for using interstate facilities in the commission of his murder-for-hire plots should have been combined, he also argued, because they "involved the same victim and two or more acts or transactions that were connected by a common criminal objective," according to the opinion. The panel affirmed Maldo...

Rochelle Zook with her sons Jared, left, and Kyle, hold a memory blanket given to her after her husband Tim’s death in January. (Photo by Mindy Schauer, Orange County Register/SCNG)Tim Zook, 60, worked at South Coast Global Medical Center in Santa Ana and proudly displayed the Band-Aid after his last Pfizer jab on Jan. 5. He began to feel ill a few hours later, and died on Jan. 9. His death was seized upon by vaccine opponents who believe, against evidence, that the shots are dangerous. The long-awaited autopsy report, released Wednesday July 14, found that Zook’s heart was severely enlarged, thicker than normal and dilated. “There is a focus o...
