NXT recap & reactions (June 15, 2021): SoCal submissions and big decisions! – Cageside Seats

NXT returned last night (June 15) from the Capitol Wrestling Center (CWC) in Orlando, Florida. You can find the results at the live blog here. “It’s time for a change” After weeks of “bedlam and carnage” on the weekly NXT show, a frustrated GM William Regal admitted at Takeover: In Your House that in his seven years things had never been as bad as they were right now. The straw that broke the camel’s back appeared to be all of the brawls between members of the fatal five-way before the main event, but the fight between Dakota Kai and Shotzi Blackheart couldn’t have helped matters. Rita Moreno Responds to ‘In the Heights’ Colorism Criticism: “You Can Never Do Right, It Seems” – Hollywood Reporter

Rita Moreno responded to critiques that musical adaptation In the Heights failed to represent Washington Heights’ Afro-Latino population in remarks made on Tuesday. In a guest appearance on The Late Show, the Puerto Rican actor defended Lin-Manuela Miranda, who wrote the music and lyrics of the original musical upon which the film is based and also produced and starred in the film. Moreno said the criticism, which has focused on the dearth of darker-skinned Afro-Latinx characters in the movie, “really upsets me.” (Miranda co-produced Moreno’s documentary Rita Moreno: Just a Girl Who Decided to Go for It.) She continued, “You can never do right, it seems. This is the man who literally has brought Latino-ness and Puerto Rican-ness to America. I couldn’t do it. I me...

"It's only a minor inconvenience," they bleat. "If it saves ONE LIFE, it's worth it!" they implore. Meanwhile, we on Team Reality have not only continued to point to real-world data that shows masking to be entirely ineffective, we've also maintained that forced public masking, especially long-term, has negative societal and even health ramifications that the powers-that-be are all-too-happy to ignore in subservience to their newfound face mask god.  It only stands to reason that one of those health ramifications would be the fact that...
