Prince William Threw Harry Out of Kensington Palace Over Meghan Markle: Book – Newsweek

Prince William threw Prince Harry out of Kensington Palace after arguments over allegations Meghan Markle bullied her staff, a book claims. The relationship between the brothers was destroyed after staff accused Meghan of bullying in 2018, according to royal biography Battle of Brothers, serialized in U.K. newspaper The Times today. Numerous colleagues had reported ill-treatment to communications secretary Jason Knauf, including women the American aide "greatly respected," the book said. In the aftermath, William confronted Harry but the fierce argument that followed did not resolve tensions, author Robert Lacey wrote. Ultimately, it was Prince William, not his brother who decided the joint household at Kensington Palace must be split, leaving Prince Harry and Meghan to set up a new priva...

Singer Macy Gray argues US needs a new flag to replace tattered, dated, divisive Old Glory – Fox News

The American flag is "tattered, dated, divisive, and incorrect" and needs to be updated, singer Macy Gray argued this week in an op-ed written for Juneteenth.  But the piece, published Thursday by MarketWatch, received a quick rebuke from a few prominent conservatives.  The five-time Grammy nominee's article appeared the same day President Biden signed a bill making Juneteenth a federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the 1860s.  She argued that Old Glory has "replaced" the Confederate flag, implying it is a symbol of racism. "It no longer represents ALL of us," Gray wrote. "It’s not fair to be forced to honor it. It’s time for a new flag." "It no longer represents ALL of us. It's not fair to be forced to honor it. Infectious Disease Expert Warns Were Not Done With This Virus At All – HuffPost

Infectious disease expert Michael Osterholm warned on Friday of the possibility of “substantial” local and regionalized surges of COVID-19, telling CNN’s Poppy Harlow that “we’re not done with this virus at all.” Osterholm, the director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, doubted another national surge because of the scale of the United States’ vaccination program which to date has seen more than 175 million Americans receive at least one shot. But Osterholm said more localized surges could occur if the highly transmissible Delta variant took hold in the U.S., where it is now quickly spreading. The variant first identified in India has already become the dominant strain of the virus in the United Kingdom, where rising cases have...

Obama: Ensuring democracy continues to work effectively keeps me up at night | TheHill – The Hill

Former President Obama during ABC’s Juneteenth television special said that ensuring that democracy “continues to work effectively” as the United States becomes more diverse is one of the main things that “keeps him up at night.”  During a special episode of ABC’s documentary series “Soul of a Nation” titled, “Juneteenth: Together We Triumph,” the former president was asked by “Good Morning America” co-host Michael Strahan, “What keeps you up at night, and what gives you the most joy?”  In response to the first question, Obama replied, “How does our democracy get refreshed and updated so that it continues to work effectively as we become a more diverse society?”  “How can we ensure that if you work hard in this country, you can make it?” the former commander in chief added.  ...

The US marks a vaccine milestone, but one expert warns that the coronavirus Delta variant has a worrying impact on patients – CNN

But virus variants, particularly the Delta variant, have been a top concern for many experts when it comes to those who remain unvaccinated against the coronavirus. The Midwest and South lag in vaccination rates compared to coastal states, with Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Wyoming among the slowest to vaccinate. In Missouri, where 43.4% of the total population is at least partially vaccinated, the Delta variant is on the rise. "We have seen a five-fold increase in hospitalized patients in less than four weeks. Our doctors are describing them as younger, sicker. They're often coming to us later in the disease process so we have less therapy options for them," Steve Edwards, the CEO of the CoxHealth, a system of hospitals and clinics based in Missouri, told CNN on Friday...

Disneyland Replacing Annual Passes With Membership Program Catering To “Superfans” – Deadline

In the months since Disneyland announced it is sunsetting its annual pass program, frequent park guests have fretted about the loss. Now we know what’s next: a membership program. Deadline confirmed the news Friday after Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products told the Los Angeles Times a replacement membership program was coming “relatively soon.” More specifically, in regard to replacing the annual pass program, Disneyland President Ken Potrock recently told the official D23 Inside Disney podcast that the park would “clearly be launching something by the end of the year.” Potrock indicated that the new membership program will be heavily informed by guest demand and experience. To that end, he said park officials were parsing results from res...

Bill Maher rips Lin-Manuel Miranda for In the Heights diversity apology: This is why people hate Democrats – Fox News

"Real Time" host Bill Maher knocked Lin-Manuel Miranda on Friday night over an apology the Broadway star issued for an apparent lack of diversity in the film adaptation of his musical "In the Heights." Earlier this week, the "Hamilton" creator took to Twitter, responding to the backlash that his new film lacked Afro-Latino performers.  "I started writing ‘In the Heights’ because I didn’t feel seen. And over the past 20 years all I wanted was for us — ALL of us — to feel seen," Miranda began the statement. "I’m seeing the discussion around Afro-Latino representation in our film this weekend and it is clear that many in our dark-skinned Afro-Latino community don’t feel sufficiently represented within it, particularly among the leading roles. BILL MAHER SCOLDS LEFT'S REFUSAL TO ADMIT RAC...
