Billie Eilish ‘Appalled and Embarrassed’ by Resurfaced Video Containing Anti-Asian Remark: ‘I Want to Barf’ – Variety

Billie Eilish has responded to a resurfaced video that appears to show her mouthing an anti-Asian remark, apologizing for behavior that she says made her “want to barf.” An edited compilation of several videos that was posted on TikTok last week appears to show the singer mouthing an Asian racial slur used in Tyler the Creator’s 2011 song “Fish” and imitating various accents. As the video spread on social media, Eilish’s fans have been commenting on her accounts, asking her to make a statement. Eilish delivered on that request via her Instagram story on Monday night, writing: “I love you guys, and many of you have been asking me to address this. And this is something that I WANT to address because I’m being labeled something that I am not.” “There’s a video edit going a...

Chester County rabies: Dog adopted from Azerbaijan found to be infected – WPVI-TV

WEST CHESTER, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- The CDC is conducting a multi-state investigation after a dog brought to the United States from overseas contracted rabies. That dog had been adopted by a family in Chester County, Pennsylvania. Health experts say cases like this are why it's so important to vaccinate your animals. Vaccines are required for dogs to play at West Goshen dog park. Owners say this is the only way to feel safe. "It's critical. I want her to be around as long as possible. She's part of the family," said Danny Reiner from Exton. He's one of many pet owners there who said they had no idea there was a rabid dog in the county. "I would like to know where the dog came from that caused that," said Michael Hart from West Goshen Township. The CDC says an international rescue group ...

Concerns Rise That Delta Variant May Become Predominant Coronavirus Strain in the U.S. – The Root

Photo: M-Foto (Shutterstock) We’re in a really weird place when it comes to the pandemic. With vaccines widely available, people in America are slowly but surely getting back to gathering, going out, and generally trying to establish a new normal. While it may feel like we’re at the end of the pandemic, the virus is still spreading, and some parts of the U.S. are still experiencing spikes in COVID infections as new strains take hold. Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), said on Friday she’s concerned the delta variant may become the dominant strain in America. According to ABC News, the delta variant was first detected in India last October and has been detected in 80 countries since. The strain has already been located in 41 states...

“The struggle is the story”: “Ill Be Gone in the Dark” sequel director reexamines McNamaras work – Salon

Nearly one year ago, former police officer Joseph James DeAngelo, known as the infamous Golden State Killer, stood trial and was sentenced to life in prison for the 50 home-invasion rapes and 13 murders he committed during the 1970s and '80s. At the same time as DeAngelo's trial, the six-part documentary series, "I'll Be Gone in the Dark," aired on HBO last summer, chronicling not just the notorious killer's attacks across the state, but also giving voice to his victims who lived, and telling the story of the woman who had dedicated her life to trying to find DeAngelo and win justice. Directed by Elizabeth Wolff, a new follow-up episode of "I'll Be Gone in the Dark" airs Monday that marks the one-year anniversary of DeAngelo's guilty plea, along with revisiting the case from the victims' ...

Emmy Rules Change Will Give Actors And Actresses Option To Be Recognized As “Performer”; Oscar Docs No Longer Eligible – Deadline

The Television Academy’s Board of Governors on Monday said it has approved a pair of rules changes for the Emmy Awards. One change will allow anyone nominated in an actor or actress category the option to “request that their nomination certificate and Emmy statuette carry the term ‘Performer’ in place of Actor or Actress,” the Academy said. “No performer category titled ‘Actor’ or ‘Actress’ has ever had a gender requirement for submissions,” it wrote today. “Now, nominees and (or) winners in any performer category titled ‘Actor’ or ‘Actress’ may request that their nomination certificate and Emmy statuette carry the term ‘Performer’ in place of Actor or Actress.” The option will take effect beginning with the current 2021 Emmy Awards season, and comes at a time when voice...
