The Debate over Origins of SARS-CoV-2 – Caltech

There has been renewed discussion and interest into understanding the biological origins of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that has caused the COVID-19 pandemic. Similar viruses before it have been shown to have jumped from animals to humans; yet this link has not yet been definitively found for SARS-CoV-2. Caltech's David Baltimore, president emeritus and Distinguished Professor of Biology, is a virologist who received the Nobel Prize for his research into viral genetics. Baltimore was an organizer of the first Asilomar Conference on Recombinant DNA held in 1975 to discuss ethics and regulation of biotechnology. Macy Gray defends call to redesign US flag: Its confusing – Fox News

Macy Gray is speaking out. Last week, the star made headlines when she wrote an op-ed for MarketWatch in which she suggested that the American flag be redesigned, as the current design has become "tattered, dated, divisive, and incorrect," alleging that it has "replaced" the confederate flag as a symbol of racism and hate.  Reactions to the "I Try" singer's suggestion were mixed, but certainly caused a stir on social media, and now, in an interview with TMZ, Gray has continued to defend her criticism and expanded on her call for a redesign. She began the interview on Tuesday by once again explaining that it was the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol following the election of Joe Biden that sparked her sentiments. Michael B. Jordan & Lori Harvey's Relationship Timeline Not everyone is intoxicated by the name of Michael B. Jordan's new liquor company. Over the weekend, the Black Panther star's girlfriend, Lori Harvey, shared photos from an apparent launch party for a rum called J'Ouvert. "Congratulations on the launch of your rum baby!!! I'm so proud of you!!!" Lori captioned an Instagram Story photo of Michael at the gathering, according to screenshots shared on social media. However, many took social media to express their disappointment with the 34-year-old actor's company name, including Nicki Minaj. Some have even accused the brand of cultural appropriation. Traditionally, J'Ouvert is a festival that celebrates Caribbean culture. In addition to being held annually in Trinidad, Tobago...

Consuming three to four cups of joe a day may reduce the risk of liver cancer and other alcohol-related liver diseases, according to findings released Monday in the peer-reviewed medical journal BMC Public Health. Researchers studied the coffee habits and liver health of nearly a half-million Brits in a biomedical database over 11 years. The subjects of the study were men and women between the ages of 40–69. About 385,000 of them were heavy coffee drinkers. The study found that the daily grinders were 21 percent less likely to develop chronic liver disease, 20 percent less likely to develop fatty liver disease and nearly half as likely to die from liver ailments, compared to those that ab...
