CRISPR gene editing breakthrough could treat many more diseases – Engadget

CRISPR gene editing already promises to fight diseases that were once thought unassailable, but techniques so far have required injecting the tools directly into affected cells. That's not very practical for some conditions. However, there's just been a breakthrough. NPR reports that researchers have published results showing that you can inject CRISPR-Cas9 into the bloodstream to make edits, opening the door to the use of gene editing for treating many common diseases. The experimental treatment tackled a rare genetic disease, transthyretin amyloidosis. Scientists injected volunteers with CRISPR-loaded nanoparticles that were absorbed by the patients' livers, editing a gene in the organ to disable production of a harmful protein. Marilyn Manson to Surrender Himself to Police on New Hampshire Arrest Warrant – Pitchfork

Marilyn Manson will turn himself in to the Los Angeles Police Department on an arrest warrant stemming from the alleged 2019 assault on a videographer in New Hampshire, as The Los Angeles Times reports. The news was announced by Gilford Police Chief Anthony Bean Burpee of New Hampshire.  The arrest warrant, which was originally issued in October 2019 but brought to the public eye by Gilford PD this past May, charges Manson with two counts of Class A misdemeanor assault, which brings with it a maximum jail sentence of one year and a maximum fine of $2000. Denis Villeneuve’s Dune was among the big 2020 movies that saw its release date delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. After being moved to October 1st, Dune’s release has been pushed back yet again, this time to October 22nd, Variety reports. The move was one of several releases Warner Bros. rescheduled, with the Clint Eastwood-directed Cry Macho moved to September 17th, and The Many Saints of Newark, a prequel to The Sopranos, moved to October 1st. The adaptation of the 1965 Frank Herbert sci-fi classic has an all-star cast that includes Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Stellan Skarsgård, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, and Javier Bardem.
