No vaccine needed for those who’ve had COVID-19, Cleveland Clinic study says – WJW FOX 8 News Cleveland

** Watch the video above for more information about how long the COVID-19 vaccine lasts ** CLEVELAND (WJW) — The Cleveland Clinic recently studied the effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccination among people who caught the virus and those who haven’t. The study finds that anyone who previously tested positive for a SARS-CoV-2 infection did not get additional benefits from the vaccine, which suggests the vaccines should be prioritized to people who haven’t gotten the infection. Ohio Gov. DeWine makes plea with 200K vaccine doses set to expire The clinic says this research provides insight into how the immune system protects the body once a COVID-19 infection is confirmed. During the study that was conducted on 52,238 employees in the Cleveland Clinic, t...

California sea lions are facing a deadly, ‘unprecedented’ health crisis – SF Gate

Sea lions off the California coast are increasingly facing a terminal diagnosis, one potentially linked to toxic, human-made chemicals from generations ago. A report from Reuters found that California sea lions are increasingly being diagnosed with urogenital carcinoma, a startlingly common form of vital cancer among these water mammals. These creatures have the highest rates of cancer among any mammal, including humans. The finding is part of a study co-authored by researchers at the Marine Mammal Center and published in the peer-reviewed Frontiers in Marine Science journal. An estimated 18 sea lions necropsied by the Marine Mammal Center between 1979, when the cancer was first discovered, and 1994 had that form of cancer. That rate has ...

Jennifer Lopez Seems to Be Scoping Out an LA Move Close to Ben Affleck For Her Family – Yahoo Entertainment

Jennifer Lopez might be taking her relationship to the next level with Ben Affleck with some major life changes. While it may seem sudden, we have to realize that these two are picking up where they left off 17 years ago — a foundation is already built and Lopez appears to be making a move to the West Coast. While she was dating Alex Rodriguez, Miami was her home base with her 13-year-old twins, Max and Emme, from her marriage to Marc Anthony. According to The Sun, the city just “reminds her of HIM and for work, LA has always been more convenient” and that’s why Lopez has been spotted house hunting and visiting schools to plant her roots back in Los Angeles — near her work and near her love. (See the photos at the Daily Mail.) More from SheKnows A source told The Sun that this transitio...

The “lost” George Romero movie The Amusement Park is a surreal plunge into the horror of getting old – The A.V. Club

As undergraduate thesis papers have been breathlessly postulating for decades, the late George Romero had a keen social conscience. That nightmarish horror classics like Dawn Of The Dead and The Crazies were really about the festering soul of America is a conclusion so ancient it could easily blend into one of the director’s famous hordes of ravenous cadavers. Part of what made Romero’s work special, though, is that the big ideas were woven deeply into the fabric of his films—he made primo thrillers whose underlying philosophies rarely eclipsed their function as gangbusters B-movie entertainment. The Amusement Park is a different story. Shot back in 1973, shelved just as long ago, and only recently rediscovered and restored, this “lost” entry in the Pittsburgh filmmaker’s esteemed oeuvre...

5 Foods You Should Eat Every Day to Boost Your Longevity, According to Science – Prevention.com

Eating at least five servings of fruits and vegetables a day could benefit your longevity, a new study published in the journal Circulation suggests. Leafy green vegetables, foods rich in beta carotene, and berries seemed to have the biggest health impact, researchers found. The study defined a serving as a half cup of any vegetable or fruit, or a whole cup of leafy greens. You know the importance of eating your fruit and veggies, but are you actually filling your plate? Only one in 10 adults eats the recommended amount of produce in a day, per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Just one reason that’s a big mistake: New research suggests consuming about five servings of fruit and vegetables per day, specifically two servings of fruit and three servings of ve...

Fauci warns of COVID-19 Delta variant now spreading rapidly in U.K.: We cannot let that happen in the United States – Yahoo News

WASHINGTON — Just three weeks ago, Great Britain celebrated the success of its vaccination campaign by lifting many coronavirus-related restrictions. “Goodbye, lockdown,” one headline said. But since then, a more transmissible new strain of the coronavirus has taken hold, imperiling plans to fully reopen the country on June 21. Public health officials in the United States are now grappling with the possibility that a similar regression could take place here and, just as in the U.K., place in jeopardy the end of the pandemic that many had foreseen for this summer. The potent new variant, known as Delta or B.1.617, emerged in India during that country’s recent coronavirus surge. According to British Health Secretary Matt Hancock, it is around 40 percent more transmissible than the original ...
