Heidi Swanson Is Our Granola God

As Heidi Swanson, a prolific writer, photographer, and early food internet fixture, tells it, she was waiting for a phone call that never came. “I was on the waiting list for a decade and never got the call,” she recalls in a recent Zoom conversation from her home in Los Angeles. We’re talking about the move south from her longtime home in San Francisco, and the community garden back in the Bay that she’d been itching to join for years. “I got down here, and a friend was casually like, ‘Oh, hey, there’s plots at the Long Beach Community Garden,’ so, basically immediately, we got this big, 20×30 plot. And it’s great, and growing down here is—I mean, it’s magic.” Vegetables are Swanson’s vibe. Her acrylics. So getting that garden spot near her home in Belmont Shore was no small victory for...

Beyoncé Shares Touching 4th Birthday Tribute to Twins Rumi and Sir – Yahoo Entertainment

It's Beyoncé's twins' birthday, but the proud mom is the one feeling lucky today. The 39-year-old music superstar posted a heartfelt message to her personal website on Sunday, June 13 to mark Rumi and Sir's 4th birthday. Beyoncé and husband Jay-Z, who also share 9-year-old daughter Blue Ivy, welcomed the twins on June 13, 2017. "What's better than 1 gift... 2," the star wrote over a black background. "Happy birthday Rumi & Sir." It's not a big surprise that Bey and Jay have yet to post images of Rumi and Sir on their special day, as the parents tend to be quite private when it comes to sharing glimpses of the little ones. On March 31, the "Formation" vocalist offered a rare look at her twins during a day out in Malibu, Calif, with her three children, where they enjoyed a meal at popul...

Vaccinated Los Angeles doctor diagnosed with COVID-19, warns about breakthrough cases: report – Fox News

LOS ANGELES-- Dr. Eugene Choi, a Los Angeles-based radiologist, said in an interview published Saturday that he came down with COVID-19 despite receiving the vaccine about six months ago. Fox 11 reported that Choi is in quarantine fighting the virus. The report pointed out that his wife—who was also vaccinated—was also diagnosed with the disease. "Even when I think about it today, it’s crazy," he told the station. "I can’t believe I have COVID." He said that he was surprised when he was diagnosed, but when he learned that his wife was also diagnosed, he realized it was not a fluke. He still insists people should be vaccinated.  A recent study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed that Pfizer and Moderna are about 90% effective against infection once two weeks aft...

States with low vaccination rates see drop in COVID cases, but experts warn it might not last – Yahoo News

Although COVID-19 cases are dropping across the country, even in areas that haven't vigorously vaccinated their populations, experts warn the good times may not last, the Associated Press reported Sunday.
