The Zoodle Can Be Cool

If you were one of the many people who spent the pandemic rewatching old seasons of Top Chef, Gregory Gourdet is probably a familiar face. The two-time former competitor is back this season as a judge, introducing viewers to the breadth of the food landscape in his hometown of Portland, Oregon, where the show was filmed. In addition to filming the season last fall during forest fires and Black Lives Matter protests, with a massive list of COVID precautions in place, Gourdet was also getting ready to open Kann Winter Village, an outdoor pop-up restaurant that celebrated the Haitian food he grew up with (a summer iteration of the pop-up is in the works now). He was also working on his first cookbook, Everyone’s Table, coauthored with JJ Goode. T...

Myanmar’s Miss Universe contestant, Thuzar Wint Lwin, used the pageant on Sunday to urge the world to speak out against the military junta, whose security forces have killed hundreds of opponents since it seized power in a Feb. 1 coup. "Our people are dying and being shot by the military every day," she said in a video message for the competition, where she was appearing in the finals at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. "I would like to urge everyone to speak about Myanmar. As Miss Universe Myanmar since the coup, I have been speaking out as much as I can," she said. Myanmar's junta spokesman did not answer calls seeking comment. Thuzar Wint Lwin is among dozens of Myanmar celebrities, actors, social media influencers and sports people who have voiced oppos...

Can I still spread COVID-19 if I’m vaccinated? – WOODTV.com

(NEXSTAR) — At the start of the vaccination drive in the U.S., it was altogether unknown whether the COVID-19 vaccines would prevent transmission of the virus. But recently, thanks to a series of studies, including real-world data, we’re getting greater clarity about the potential for fully vaccinated people to spread the virus. Dr. Peter Chin-Hong, an infectious disease expert at University of California at San Francisco School of Medicine, says he thinks “it’s very unlikely” that vaccinated people can transmit the virus. “The more evidence we get, it appears it’s very unlikely for a vaccinated person to transfer the virus to someone else,” he said. The vaccines are especially effective at preventing asymptomatic disease, which Chin-Hong says is where mos...

Mare of Easttown Recap: Jump In Together – Vulture

Rest in peace, Colin Zabel, hero detective. I really did not see that coming! I screamed! Good-bye, Evan Peters, you were good in this role and I hope you escape from the Ryan Murphy universe more often! (Also: I don’t know any more than you do regarding Colin’s fate, definitively; I haven’t seen screeners past episode five. But it looked to me like Colin got shot through the left cheek, which I’m assuming was fatal.) In hindsight, maybe the indicators were there for Colin’s exit. He made his peace with Mare’s tunnel vision during their date, he came clean to her about what really happened with that case that got him the wunderkind label, and he kissed her. His “How do you know what I want?” was cheeky a...

Hell in a Cell comes early this year – Cageside Seats

We’ve heard a lot of rumors about WWE’s PPV schedule this year. But we hadn’t heard this one. The company announced during the WrestleMania Backlash broadcast that next up on their calender is... Hell in a Cell? All 12 previous iterations of the Hell in a Cell event have taken place in October or September. The 2021 version will happen on June 20. June 20 is Father’s Day in the United States. It’s also a date we first heard for Backlash, and then for Money in the Bank. All these changes are likely - as was the case with WrestleMania 37’s dates coming together late - due to the company’s efforts to move out of their ThunderDome set-up and return to performing in front of live crowds as quickly as possible. The latest reports indicate they’re hoping to do that in mid-July. Whi...
