Morgan Wallen takes the stage at Kid Rocks bar, his first live performance since scandal – Yahoo Entertainment

Morgan Wallen surprised the crowd at Kid Rock's bar in Nashville on Wednesday night with a two-song performance. The country singer's return to the stage comes less than four months after he was caught on video using a racial slur.  Wallen, 28, sang "Whiskey Glasses" with a band on stage, followed by an acoustic performance of his hit song "Wasted On You." Kid Rock also made an appearance. Judging from the very warm reception the former Voice star received at the Big Honky Tonk & Steakhouse, the Morgan Wallen comeback tour is underway.  "Everyone was just floored," an attendee told the Tennessean, revealing the crowd chanted "Morgan! Morgan!" at one point. "Morgan really wanted to be playing his music for the people. Definitely could sense it ... the overall feeling was tremendous." ...

COVID-19 Variant Originating in India Detected in North Texas, Researchers Say – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Two cases of the COVID-19 variant first seen in India have been detected in the Dallas area for the first time, researchers with UT Southwestern Medical Center announced Thursday. UT Southwestern says the virus appears to be more contagious than older coronavirus variants, though research shows current COVID-19 vaccines are effective against it. The two Dallas-area cases have no recent travel history, a Dallas County spokesperson told The Dallas Morning News. No further information about the patients was available. "The identification of the B.1.617.2 variant again reinforces the importance of vaccination - which helps slow the transmission of all types of virus and protects against more severe disease," said Jeffrey SoRelle, M.D., assistant instructor of path...

Global Spread of the Highly Pathogenic H5N8 Avian Influenza Virus Is a Serious Public Health Concern – SciTechDaily

By American Association for the Advancement of Science May 20, 2021 The emergence and global spread of the highly pathogenic H5N8 avian influenza virus (AIV), a pathogen that has caused continuous and ongoing outbreaks with massive mortality in both wild and farmed birds across Eurasia and Africa throughout 2020, represents a considerable public health concern — particularly considering the first human cases of H5N8 infection were first reported last December. In a Perspective, Weifeng Shi and George Gao discuss the emergence and zoonotic potential of the H5 AIV lineages. Shi and Gao argue that vigilant surveillance and rigorous infection control measures for these emerging viruses are critical to avoid further human spillovers that could result in new and devastating pandemics....

Blake Shelton Just Revealed A Totally ’80s Element To His And Gwen Stefanis Wedding – HuffPost

Blake Shelton just revealed the song he and Gwen Stefani will play for their first dance at their wedding, and it came straight out of a John Hughes movie. The country singer appeared virtually on Jimmy Fallon’s “The Tonight Show” this week and divulged some secrets about his upcoming nuptials to his fellow “The Voice” co-host. When Fallon asked Shelton what the couple’s first song would be, Shelton jokingly replied, “I think it’s called the ‘Wedding March.’” “Not that song, not the procession,” Fallon said quickly, before jumping in with his own vision of the party. “No, no. I want at the reception, you come out of a fog machine ... you know, it’s like, ‘Here is Mr. and Mrs. Blake Shelton! ... And now time for the couple’s first dance.’ And then, what do we hear?” Shelton share...

Princess Beatrices baby to receive a title – Page Six

Princess’ Beatrice’s baby will reportedly receive a title at birth — even though her younger sister Princess Eugenie’s new son doesn’t have one. But the little one won’t be given a British royal title, instead receiving one that is reflective of dad Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi’s Italian roots. When Mozzi, who is an Italian Count, married Beatrice — the daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson — she became an Italian Countess. Therefore, their child will inherit the title of Cont or Nobile Donna — which means “noble woman” in Italian, according to Cosmopolitan UK. In contrast, August, who is the son of Eugenie and commoner husband Jack Brooksbank, does not have a title. Under royal protocol, Beatrice and Eugenie’s children are not entitled to receive...

Stark racial disparities persist in vaccinations, state-level CDC data shows – CNN

The data, provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in response to a public records request, gives a sweeping national look at the race and ethnicity of vaccinated people on a state-by-state basis. Yet nearly half of those vaccination records are missing race or ethnicity information. KHN's analysis shows that only 22% of Black Americans have gotten a shot, and Black rates still trail those of Whites in almost every state. Targeted efforts have raised vaccination rates among other minority groups. Hispanics in eight states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico are now vaccinated at higher rates than non-Hispanic Whites. Yet 29% of Hispanics are vaccinated nationally, compared with 33% of Whites. While 45% of Native Americans have received at least one dose, stark d...
