Last Man Standing Series Finale Explained — Alternate Endings Revealed – TVLine

Baxter, out! After 194 episodes, spanning nine seasons and two networks, Last Man Standing signed off Thursday with a decidedly understated finale. No one got married, got a new job or moved away. Instead, the episode saw everyone gather to mourn the loss of something near and dear to Mike’s heart: His 1956 Ford F-100, which was stolen and stripped for parts. But when everyone — including Kaitlyn Dever’s Eve, who FaceTimed in for the occasion — was asked to say a few words at the service, they didn’t eulogize the classic automobile — not if you listened carefully. Rather, each cast member tipped their hat to the show itself. Below, showrunner Kevin Abbott proves himself an open book, revealing additional storylines that were scrapped at the very last minute, and the reason why Dev...

How Your Body Tells You That You’re Consuming *Too Much* Caffeine – Well+Good

If you’re among the 62 percent of Americans who start their day with a cup (or two) of joe, listen up. Coffee is comforting and flavorful, and the 96 milligrams of caffeine in each cup is an energizing, often steadfast part of one’s morning routine. It’s one of the most beloved beverages around (that’s only getting more popular as a result of the past year, with more time spent at home and easier access to your coffee maker). But how much caffeine is too much caffeine? According to the Alcohol and Drug Foundation, “caffeine is a stimulant drug, which means it speeds up the messages traveling between the brain and the body.” It works by increasing energy production in the central nervous system, in muscles and, in general, increases metabolic rate. In moderation, it can he...

12 fully vaccinated people died of COVID in L.A. County, showing shots work ‘extraordinarily well,’ health officials say – KTLA Los Angeles

With millions of people in Los Angeles County now fully vaccinated against COVID-19, public health officials said Thursday that evidence is becoming clearer that the shots provide exceptional protection against sickness and death from the virus. Data on “breakthrough cases,” or people who test positive for coronavirus despite being fully vaccinated, shows that only 0.00036% of them went on to die from the virus, Barbara Ferrer, the county’s public health director, said in a news briefing. This graph was released May 20, 2021, by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. The department’s director, Barbara Ferrer, noted the circles are not proportional. Of the nearly 3.3 million fully vaccinated people included in the data, 12 contracted COVID-19 and died,...

Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez easing into rekindled romance, ‘don’t want to jinx anything’: report – Fox News

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are keeping the status of their reignited relationship close to the vest. The pop superstar actress, 51, and "Goodwill Hunting" star, 48, have been moving and shaking as if they are reliving their "Bennifer" past but a source told Us Weekly this week that despite their Montana vacation and frequent clandestine rendezvous in Los Angeles, the pair is in no hurry to place a label on their intensifying bond. "Right now they’re going with the flow and making plans to meet up as often as possible, but there’s still some discussing to do before they officially go public," the insider revealed in the publication’s newest cover issue.  "It was Ben’s idea to go to Montana, a place he absolutely loves, and they had a wonderful time there just snuggling up and being...

The Latest Coronavirus Comes From Dogs – The New York Times

It also had an unusual genetic mutation, a deletion in what is commonly known as the N gene, which codes for an important structural protein. This deletion has not been documented in other canine coronaviruses, Dr. Vlasova said, but similar mutations have appeared in the viruses that cause Covid and SARS. “So what does this mean?” Dr. Gray asks. “Well, you know, we don’t know exactly.” Although much more research is needed, one possibility is that the mutation may help animal coronaviruses to adapt to human hosts, the researchers said. It is too soon to say whether this virus poses a risk to humans. Researchers have not yet proved that this virus is the cause of the pneumonia that sent patients to the hospital. And they have not yet studied whether people who may contract the virus from a...

CDC urges against kissing, snuggling poultry in salmonella warning | TheHill – The Hill

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued an advisory on Thursday warning people against getting too close to backyard poultry, citing concerns that the chickens may be spreading salmonella. In an investigation notice, the CDC noted that backyard poultry owners should take precautionary measures when handling their animals after 163 confirmed cases of salmonella were reported in 43 states. "Don’t kiss or snuggle backyard poultry, and don’t eat or drink around them," the CDC wrote. "This can spread Salmonella germs to your mouth and make you sick." According to the CDC, no one has died from the reported salmonella cases, and children under 5 made up one-third of the cases that have been recorded. More cases could go unreported, the CDC noted, as few people ar...
