Ian Somerhalder says wife Nikki Reed dug him out of 8-figure debt – Page Six

Ian Somerhalder is singing wife Nikki Reed’s praises after revealing she spent two years saving him from massive financial debt. “I’ve never disclosed this publicly, but this woman worked selflessly for 2yrs to build me out of a terrible business situation I got myself into,” Somerhalder explained in a lengthy photo caption shared on Friday. “Before Nik and I got together I built a company while shooting TVD that was important to me.” The 42-year-old actor, who married Reed in 2015, goes on to reveal he “invested heavily,” making “huge personal guarantees” to different banks. “However due to greed and fraud within that company and fraudulent activities from our biggest customer, not to mention the temporary collapse of the oil and gas industry – I was ...

Zack Snyder, Netflix Spent Millions Adding Tig Notaro to ‘Army of the Dead’ – Hollywood Reporter

Zack and Deborah Snyder say that it cost millions of dollars to scrub Chris D’Elia from Army of the Dead and add Tig Notaro to the ensemble. In an interview with Vanity Fair published Friday, the husband-wife movie-making duo said it was a “fairly easy” choice to remove the scandal-plagued D’Elia from their zombie heist film and do reshoots with Notaro. But it was a costly decision. “It was an expensive one, that’s for sure,” said producer Deborah Snyder. Director Zack Snyder put the figure at “a few million.” Added Deborah Snyder, “I will say, Netflix did the right thing. They put their money where their mouth is.” Last summer, D’Elia was accused by multiple women of sexually harassing underage girls. In February, the comic-actor posted a video on his Yo...

Former BBC boss resigns from prestigious gallery post amid fallout over Diana interview – CNN

Tony Hall, who was director of BBC news and current affairs, was in charge of an internal investigation in 1996 into the circumstances surrounding the interview. On Friday, a subsequent independent investigation into the interview found that Hall covered up "deceitful behaviour" of reporter Martin Bashir. "I have today resigned as chair of the National Gallery," Hall said in a statement. "I have always had a strong sense of public service and it is clear my continuing in the role would be a distraction to an institution I care deeply about. "As I said two days ago, I am very sorry for the events of 25 years ago and I believe leadership means taking responsibility." The BBC was forced to issue a humiliating apology after covering up the "deceitful" methods its former journalis...

Coronavirus infections drop below 30000 daily in continuing sign of recovery – Anchorage Daily News

For the first time in 11 months, the daily average of new coronavirus infections in the United States has fallen below 30,000 amid continuing signs that most communities across the nation are emerging from the worst of the pandemic. The seven-day average dipped to27,815 on Friday, the lowest since June 22 and less than a tenth of the infection rate during the winter surge, according to state health department data compiled by The Washington Post. The pandemic map remains speckled with hot spots, including parts of the Deep South, the Rocky Mountains and the Pacific Northwest. At the local level, progress against the contagion has not been uniform as some communities struggle with inequities in vaccine distribution and in the health impacts of the virus. Bu...
