David Ellefson is no longer a member of Megadeth – Louder

David Ellefson is no longer a member of Megadeth. The news was posted by the thrash metal giants on social media, and comes two weeks after the bassist denied allegations of "grooming" after “personal conversations and interactions” were leaked online. In the statement, Megadeth leader Dave Mustaine says, "We are informing our fans that David Ellefson is no longer playing with Megadeth. We do not take this decision lightly. “While we do not know every detail of what occurred, with an already strained relationship, what has already been revealed now is enough to make working together impossible moving forward. “We look forward to seeing our fans on the road this summer, and we cannot wait to share our brand-new music with the world. It is almost complete." Ellefson denied the allegatio...

After addressing capacity, Disney CEO Bob Chapek spoke about theme park technology today at the J.P. Morgan Global Technology, Media, and Communications Conference. Genes from algae helped a blind man recover some of his vision – Livescience.com

A blind man who could only perceive the faintest bit of light can now perceive fuzzy shapes, thanks to gene therapy and a pair of specially engineered goggles.  The man was diagnosed with a condition called retinitis pigmentosa 40 years ago, at the age of 18, according to a new report, published Monday (May 24) in the journal Nature Medicine. People with retinitis pigmentosa carry faulty genes that, due to many mutations, cause the light-sensitive cells in the retina at the back of the eye to break down, according to the National Eye Institute (NEI).  These genes would usually code for functional proteins in the retina, but instead fail to build those proteins, or make abnormal proteins that malfunction or produce substances that directly damage the retinal tissue. The condition aff...

Kevin Spacey Cast in Italian Film After Being Sidelined in the U.S. – The New York Times

Kevin Spacey has been cast in a film in what is believed to be the first time since accusations of sexual assault against the actor started surfacing more than three years ago, prompting several court cases and unraveling his onscreen career. The film, “L’uomo Che Disegno Dio” (or “The Man Who Drew God”), is an Italian feature. Vanessa Redgrave has a role, and it will be directed by her husband, Franco Nero, who rose to fame via the 1966 spaghetti western “Django,” said Louis Nero, one of the producers. Mr. Spacey, who plays a detective, is not a lead in the film, he said. TV and film producers started dropping Mr. Spacey from projects after the actor Anthony Rapp accused Mr. Spacey in 2017 of making unwanted sexual advances toward him in the 1980s, when he was 14 years old. More accusa...

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Michigan reported 1,378 newly confirmed coronavirus cases over the weekend and 14 additional related deaths as the state continues to see its virus metrics trend down. In all, Michigan has now counted 884,580 total confirmed cases since the virus was first detected here more than 14 months ago and 18,953 related deaths. Additionally, testing numbers are from a single calendar date, while the number of new cases lists the increase since the last time...
