Paul Burrell slams Prince Harry over US interviews saying hes blinded by Meghan Markle – Daily Mail

On the Sussexes' cries for help to the Royal Family 'I thought my family would help, but every single ask, request, warning, whatever it is, just got met with total silence, total neglect. We spent four years trying to make it work. We did everything that we possibly could to stay there and carry on doing the role and doing the job. But Meghan was struggling.' On Harry's family 'stopping' them from quitting  'That feeling of being trapped within the family, there was no option to leave. Eventually when I made that decision for my family, I was still told, "You can't do this", And it's like, "Well how bad does it have to get until I am allowed to do this?". She [Meghan] was going to end her life. It shouldn't have to get to that.'  On Meghan's wish to 'end her life' 'Meghan decided to shar...

Actor Mark York, Billy Merchant on The Office, dead at 55 – New York Post

Mark York, an actor and inventor famed for playing Billy Merchant on “The Office” opposite Steve Carell, has died. He was 55. The actor passed away in the “early morning of May 19th at Miami Valley Hospital following a brief and unexpected illness,” according to an obituary posted by Kreitzer Funeral Home, which is located near his hometown of Arcanum, Ohio, where he grew up. The exact cause of death has not been disclosed. York played Merchant — properties manager of the Scranton office park where Dunder Mifflin is located — during Seasons 2 through 5 of NBC’s cult classic sitcom. His recurring character was, like York, a paraplegic, and experienced many an awkward encounter with Carell’s bumbling branch manager Michael Scott. “The Office” actor R...

The latest surge: A growing population of ticks in Michigan – WOODTV.com

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — As the bags get packed and the campers cleaned about ahead of the holiday weekend, one thing you’ll want to be extra aware of ticks. They’re worse this year, which you might have already noticed. The main concern when it comes to these insects is the disease-causing bacteria they can carry with them. The most common in West Michigan is Lyme disease. Experts with the Kent County Health Department say surges in tick populations can be caused by a variety of different things.  “One of which being milder weather conditions, animal migration patterns. This being the case for not only deer and such but also birds. These things can greatly impact the amount of population you see throughout the year,” said Paul Bellamy, an epidemiologist for the heal...

How A.D.H.D. Creators on TikTok Are Spreading Awareness – The New York Times

“When I was a kid, I had the sense things were more difficult for me,” Tiffany Bui recalled. It was hard for her to focus in school, and she was often forgetful. Throughout her life, she said, members of her family criticized these traits as faults. In the fall of 2020, when she was a senior at the University of Minnesota, Ms. Bui, 21, was struggling with anxiety and depression. She visited the school’s health clinic, where she was prescribed an antidepressant, but her attention troubles persisted. When she later returned to the clinic, the doctor asked if she had considered that she might have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, or A.D.H.D. “I started reading up, just doing some self research about what A.D.H.D. looks like in women, and it was like, ‘Wow, no one’s ever talked to m...

In NYCs furthest flung neighborhood, vaccine a tough sell – Yahoo News

NEW YORK (AP) — If there’s one place where people could fear the coronavirus more than a vaccination needle, it's the Far Rockaway section of Queens: Nearly 460 residents of the seaside neighborhood have died of COVID-19. That's one out of every 146 people who live there, making for one of New York City's highest death rates. And yet, no other place in the city has a lower percentage of vaccinated people. As of Monday, only 29% of people living Far Rockaway’s ZIP code, 11691, had received even one vaccine dose, according to data from the New York City Health Department. That compares to a rate of 49% citywide and nationally. The situation in the community of around 67,000 people illustrates the challenges facing health officials in many places as they try to overcome hesitancy fueled by ...

That was my rehab: Travis Barker says surviving fatal plane crash made him quit prescription drugs – Daily Mail

Travis Barker is opening up about the life-altering plane crash that he barely survived in September 2008. The 45-year-old Blink-182 drummer spoke to Men's Health in an interview published Monday about coming to terms with his survivor's guilt he felt after being one of only two survivors of the crash that killed four. He also shared how he was motivated to kick prescription drugs when his friend Adam 'DJ AM' Goldstein, the only other survivor, died a year later of a prescription drug overdose. 'People are always like, 'Did you go to rehab?'' Barker recounted. 'And I [say], 'No, I was in a plane crash.' That was my rehab. Lose three of your friends and almost die? That was my wake-up call. If I wasn't in a crash, I would have probably never quit.'  The aftermath: Trav...

Rise in COVID-19 cases, quarantines send La Pine HS back to distance learning for 2 weeks – KTVZ

Also makes activities and athletics 'impractical,' principal says La PINE, Ore. (KTVZ) -- A recent rise in COVID-19 cases at La Pine High School, and a resulting surge in quarantined students and staff, has prompted officials to return the school to online-only learning for the next two weeks. The Bend-La Pine Schools COVID-19 dashboard shows 156 school-related cases in the past 28 days, and La Pine High actually has had fewer cases in that period (13) tan any of the Bend high schools, including 32 at Bend Senior High. But Director of Communications Julianne Repman noted that La Pine High has only about 450 students, compared to the 1,700 at Bend and Summit high schools, so the impact is far greater. Here's the full text of a letter sent home to parents on...
