Saturday Night Live: the 10 best sketches from the 46th season – The Guardian

Saturday Night Live Another unusual and underwhelming season, affected by Covid restrictions, saw brief moments of genius among the filler Season 46 of Saturday Night Live came to a close this weekend, bringing an end to what was an undeniably weak season. The show should definitely be cut some slack – the cast and crew were working under the myriad restrictions and pressures of Covid, after all – but still, you’d think a year this historic and insane would inspire them to produce at least a couple of classic moments.Alas, that wasn’t the case. That’s not to say there weren’t any solid sketches throughout the season. The following 10 might not be classics, but they provided a good number of laughs during a very weary year.Take me backAs will become obvious over the course of this list, t...

CDC identifies only 10,000 COVID infections in fully vaccinated, but likely an undercount | TheHill – The Hill

More than 10,000 fully vaccinated people in the U.S. have experienced a "breakthrough" COVID-19 infection, according to a new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study. According to the CDC, a total of 10,262 vaccine breakthrough infections had been reported from 46 U.S. states and territories as of April 30, out of the approximately 101 million people who were fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at the time. Among these cases, 63 percent occurred in females, and the median patient age was 58 years old. The coronavirus vaccines are highly effective, but they will not completely prevent all infections, so some breakthroughs are expected.  "The number of COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths that will be prevented among vaccinated persons will far exceed the number ...

Friends star Matthew Perry catches backlash for selling t-shirt promoting coronavirus vaccines – Fox News

Matthew Perry caught some backlash for promoting a clothing line that encourages "Friends" fans to get their coronavirus vaccination.  The 51-year-old actor shared an image of himself sporting the new T-shirt, which borrows from his Chandler Bing character’s catchphrase that reads: "Could I be any more vaccinated?"  The T-shirt is one of many articles of clothing that Perry is selling for a limited time that feature references to his "Friends" character.  However, a handful of people initially reacted to the merchandise on social media by calling the actor out for profiting off the COVID-19 pandemic, sparking a small debate among fans of the hit 1990s sitcom.  MATTHEW PERRY: A LOOK BACK AT THE UPS-AND-DOWNS OF THE 'FRIENDS' ACTOR'S LIFE "Just propaganda machines for life huh? The Worst Things Everyone Gets Wrong About Walking, Says Olympic Walker | Eat This Not That – Eat This, Not That

All too often walkers get short shrift in the exercise world. Though taking brisk walks every day is well known to be an amazing way to burn tons of calories, increase your cardiovascular fitness, negate the ugly effects of sitting, and ultimately extend your life by upwards of 20 years, exercisers are far too quick to dismiss it as some sort of geriatric pastime for those who are incapable of running or performing more intense forms of exercise. "I've seen people who walk on a treadmill in a gym get yawned at," Simon Gould, founder of Treadmill Run, a site devoted to all things treadmill, once explained to me. "The runners feel they should be walking outside and they're wasting the limited number of treadmills. They feel wal...

Young Americans are lagging with Covid-19 vaccines. These threats have experts pushing them to get shots – CNN

The United States has so far made significant progress in vaccinating adults. At least 25 states, plus Washington, DC, have now fully vaccinated at least half of their adult residents, data published Sunday by the CDC shows. The White House was expected to announce Tuesday a new milestone: 50% of US adults are now fully vaccinated. As of Monday 49.8% of adults were fully vaccinated, according to US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data reviewed by CNN. That's nearly 131 million people. But many experts have identified young Americans as a critical age group for inoculation success -- the key to getting the pandemic under control in the country. People 24 and younger are getting vaccine doses at much lower rates. Among those 12 to 15, only 1.4% have received at least one dos...
