Kelly Clarkson to Take Over Ellen DeGeneres’ Daytime Slot – Hollywood Reporter

NBC has locked in plans to fill the void created by the upcoming conclusion of Ellen DeGeneres’ daytime show. The Kelly Clarkson Show has been slotted to take over the daytime slot currently occupied by Ellen when the latter show comes to an end next year. Clarkson’s show — which is owned and produced by NBC’s syndication arm — will take over the slot in fall 2022 on NBC-owned stations. NBC has carried Ellen in major markets across the nation. Clarkson’s show currently airs across the country on 200 stations and will be billed as daytime’s headliner in leading time slots next year after DeGeneres wraps her longtime run. It’s worth noting that the move to replace Ellen with The Kelly Clarkson Show comes with a financial incentive, as Warners owned and prod...

Ultra-Low Doses of Inhaled Nanobodies Prevents and Treats Severe COVID-19 in Hamsters – SciTechDaily

Animals who received inhaled nanobodies have fewer coronavirus particles in their bronchioles (right panel, orange) and are less inflamed (magenta). Credit: Nambulli et al., Science Advances In a paper published today (May 26, 2021) in Science Advances, researchers from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine showed that inhalable nanobodies targeting the spike protein of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus can prevent and treat severe COVID-19 in hamsters. This is the first time the nanobodies — which are similar to monoclonal antibodies but smaller in size, more stable, and cheaper to produce — were tested for inhalation treatment against coronavirus infections in a pre-clinical model. The scientists showed that low doses of an aerosolized nanobody named Pittsburgh inhalable Nano...

Big cats seized from Tiger King Park taken in by sanctuaries – CBS News

All of the big cats that federal authorities recently seized from Jeffrey and Lauren Lowe's Tiger King Park have been accepted by accredited sanctuaries throughout the country, according to the Wildcat Sanctuary in Sandstone, Minnesota. The sanctuary's announcement comes days after the Department of Justice announced the seizure of 46 tigers, 15 lion-tiger hybrids, seven lions and one jaguar from the Thackerville, Oklahoma, park.  The Lowes, who have been accused of mistreating their animals, are best known for their appearance in the popular "Tiger King" docu-series.  "I am thankful for the coordinated effort of several reputable sanctuaries and federal agencies to ensure these cats were safely removed," Tammy Thies, the founder and executive director of the Wildcat Sanctuary, sai...

Inside Ariana Grande’s Intimate At-Home Wedding – Vogue

On a Saturday in mid-May, Ariana Grande channeled Audrey Hepburn’s timeless elegance when she walked down the aisle wearing Vera Wang to marry real estate agent Dalton Gomez at her home in Montecito. At the Met Gala a few years ago, Ariana and Vera had made a very important pact: On fashion’s biggest night, Vera promised that when the time came, she would create Ariana’s wedding day look…and the iconic designer delivered. The end result—a custom lily-white silk charmeuse empire waist column gown accented with a sculpted neckline, an exposed bra strap closure, and a plunging back—was befitting of the pop star on her big day. The dress was accessorized with a shoulder-length hand-pleated bubble veil with a sweet satin bow at the very top. Altogether, the ensemble, styled to perfection by Mi...

Watch two whole seconds of the increasingly real Uncharted movie – The Verge

After more than a decade in development and several directors, release dates, and scripts, the Uncharted movie increasingly seems like it may actually, really, for real become a movie we can watch, thanks in part to our first actual footage (via Twitter user @Nibellion). The sneak peek is in this YouTube video from Sony (timestamped here if you want to skip right to it). Get excited: Did you blink? If so, you might have missed everything that happened. I made a GIF to make sure you can see it. Okay, so maybe the two whole seconds here aren’t that exciting. And disappointingly, none of the footage shows any of the Indiana Jones-inspired action for which the Uncharted game series is known. But seeing Tom Holland’s Nathan D...

Decreased STI testing early in pandemic could lead to surge in new cases, researchers warn – Fox News

A decline in sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing among men and women in the early months of the pandemic may translate into a future surge in new cases, researchers said. A study conducted by Penn State and Quest Diagnostics reviewed more than 18 million STI test results from patients ages 14-49 from January 2019 through June 2020 and found that at-risk individuals and asymptomatic people may not have received timely testing during the pandemic, resulting in potential unknown spread.  The study, which was published May 19 in the American Journal of Preventative Medicine, found that STI screening and testing for men decreased by 63% during the studied time period, and fell by 59% for women. Researchers in part pointed to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelin...

Mild coronavirus infection leaves behind lasting antibody protection, research suggests – Fox News

Even a mild case of coronavirus could leave people with lifelong protection against the virus, a new study suggests, with researchers calling previous reports that immunity was not long-lived following infection "a misinterpretation of the data."  In the study, conducted by Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and published May 24 in the journal Nature, researchers took bone marrow samples from 18 out of 77 participants who were already signed up to give blood samples at three-month intervals starting about a month after initial infection. The bone marrow samples were taken between seven and eight months after initial COVID infection. Five of the 18 participants then gave second bone marrow samples four months later.  The team compared those samples with bone marrow ta...
