Los Angeles County reports no new COVID-19 deaths – Los Angeles Times

Los Angeles County public health authorities on Sunday reported no new deaths related to COVID-19. Even the Falcon And The Winter Soldier writers werent told what happened to Steve Rogers – The A.V. Club

The Falcon And The Winter SoldierPhoto: Disney+ The Marvel Cinematic Universe stories are often at their worst when they’re being forced into Marvel’s machinery rather than finding new and interesting ways to interact with the machinery, like Thor’s sidequest to the magic cave puddle in Avengers: Age Of Ultron or the hoops that Iron Man 2 jumps through to try and walk back the “Avengers Initiative” thing from the first movie. Disney+’s The Falcon And The Winter Soldier may have just been a TV spin-off of the MCU, but it sounds like it felt the heavy hand of Marvel Studios as much as any movie. In a recent interview with Inverse, showrunner Malcolm Spellman revealed that some aspects of The Falcon And The Winter Soldier were heavily dictated by Marvel, to the point where the people mak...

Daniel Bryan’s WWE contract doesn’t end in September – Cageside Seats

We know Daniel Bryan’s contract is up soon, because the man himself said as much, and he’s got some big decisions to make about his future. In the process of promoting his Universal championship match against Roman Reigns on Friday Night SmackDown this past week, however, he clarified that his contract doesn’t end in September like has been going around: From TVLine: It’s funny that people gravitate towards the date “September,” and I think it’s because that’s when my last contract ended, but it doesn’t end in September. [Note: Bryan was tight-lipped about when his contract actually runs out.] I’m still trying to figure out what that looks like… I had a tag team match on SmackDown last Friday, and it was a lot of fun, but my neck was just wrecked. I’m going to be 40 in May and my ...

One Major Side Effect of Eating Too Much Salt, New Study Says – msnNOW

A lot of you were recently surprised to learn about the toxic fat that's more harmful than cholesterol. In other news on unexpected nutrition dangers, a study has just discovered that the amount of salt you eat could make you more vulnerable to illness from bacteria (like this deadly food poisoning from pasta) and viruses (like COVID-19). A newly published study in the journal Circulation sought to deepen understanding that scientists gained from a study in 2015. In that previous study, the research team discovered that elevated amounts of sodium in the blood affected how a certain type of white blood cell prepares to react when it senses an unhealthy cell. But even at the conclusion of that study, says Dr. Sabrina Geisberger...

Groom-to-be offers up bridesmaid instead of money to pay for wedding musician – Fox News

It turns out, people that provide services for weddings want to actually get paid for their work. A common problem for people working in the wedding industry is people trying to get services for free. Weddings are expensive and many couples would love not to have to pay for a photographer. While it seems to be common for people to offer exposure in return for working the wedding, one groom-to-be apparently came up with a new tactic. A wedding musician recently shared a story to Reddit’s forums about a man trying to hire him for an upcoming wedding. Posting under the name Megabollockchops, the musician shared screenshots of the text conversation. The groom-to-be begins by explaining that times are tough because of the pandemic and then asks if the performer will do the wedding "as a f...

Maskless and Sweaty: Clubbing Returns to Britain for a Weekend – The New York Times

On April 29, President Emmanuel Macron of France said he hoped to remove most restrictions in the country on June 30, but nightclubs would remain shut. Many D.J.s said they wanted clubs to reopen soon as possible, and not just for the sake of their work. Clubbing wasn’t just about music, said Marea Stamper, a D.J. better known as the Blessed Madonna, after performing a set at the Liverpool event. “We come to raves to dance, to drink, to fall in love, to meet our friends,” she said. Nightclubs create communities, she added, “and to have that cut off is dreadful.” “It’s not just a party,” she added. “It’s never just a party.” In Liverpool, that sense of community was evident at 7:30 p.m. when Yousef Zahar, a D.J. and co-owner of Circus, the event’s organizer, took to the stage. For his firs...
