GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The family of an Ionia-area wife and mother says she died due to complications after receiving the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.  Anne VanGeest, 35, died April 19 at Mercy Health Saint Mary’s in Grand Rapids.  “It is with profound sadness that we share the news of Anne’s passing as the result of complications after receiving the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine,” her family said in a Thursday morning statement released through a Grand Rapids public relations firm. The statement from a representative of VanGeest’s family stopped short of saying she died from the J&J vaccine, instead saying she died “as the result of complications after (emphasis added) receiving the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.” The st...

Kevin Spacey Set To Evade $40M Sexual Assault Suit Unless Accuser Reveals Identity – Deadline

The Crown Prosecution Service in the UK may be weighing whether to bring sexual assault charges against Kevin Spacey in half a dozen cases. However, on this side of the Atlantic, the much-accused Oscar winner looks to have side stepped some very damning allegations and perhaps $40 million in damages. A federal judge in New York today denied an anonymous accuser of the one-time House of Cards star his move to keep his identity private in the big bucks assault and battery suit filed last September with Star Trek Discovery star Anthony Rapp. While the pseudonym “C.D.” plaintiff in question has 10 days to refile the matter under his real name, the man’s lawyers have already told the court that their client feels he “is emotionally unable to proceed with the action and will discontinu...

Snow Whites Enchanted Wish Attraction at Disneyland Now Being Criticized for Nonconsensual “True Loves Kiss” Scene – wdwnt.com

When Disneyland reopened at the end of April, the new Snow White’s Enchanted Wish opened as well. The ride is a reimagining of the former Snow White’s Scary Adventures, and Disney has been heavily promoting the new version of the attraction. One of the major new scenes near the ride’s finale features Snow White and Prince Charming’s kiss, an integral part of the movie. Disney is now under criticism from those who believe the scene should have been omitted from the ride as it portrays a situation in which Snow White cannot consent to be kissed. Acts of physical contact are often considered nonconsensual when one or more parties is asleep, inebriated, or otherwise not of sound mind. Those who support the scene’s inclusion often cite that a Snow White attraction without true love’s k...

Devised for Diabetics, a Glucose Monitor Attracts the Famous and Well-Connected – The Wall Street Journal

What’s the better breakfast—oatmeal or eggs? Should you add a banana? The answers vary because people vary. But for a more reliable solution, some people are turning to a continuous glucose monitor. As unlikely as it seems, growing numbers are adopting a tiny flexible sensor you can affix with a tiny needle to the back of your arm. The sensor syncs with an app that tells you in real time which foods spike your blood sugar. The device, also known as a CGM, is used to treat diabetics, and outside of that, the market remains tiny—probably in the tens of thousands of users, according to two analysts. But CGMs are getting traction in sports and tech especially. Users include high-profile athletes like Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor B...
