Parents Are Reluctant to Get Their Children Vaccinated for Covid-19, Poll Shows – The New York Times

The American public’s willingness to get a Covid vaccine is reaching a saturation point, a new national poll suggests, one more indication that achieving widespread immunity in the United States is becoming increasingly challenging. Only 9 percent of respondents said they hadn’t yet gotten the shot but intended to do so, according to the survey, published in the April edition of the Kaiser Family Foundation’s Vaccine Monitor. And with federal authorization of the Pfizer vaccine for adolescents ages 12 through 15 expected imminently, the eagerness of parents to let their children be vaccinated is also limited, the poll found. Overall, slightly more than half of those surveyed said they had gotten at least one dose of the vaccine, a finding that matches data from the Centers for Disease Co...

Courteney Cox Recalls A Hilarious Moment From Being In The Friends Fountain – HuffPost

Courteney Cox wants “Friends” fans to know: The photos and videos of the cast hanging out in the famous fountain in the opening scene were not nearly as fun to shoot as they look. The actor sat down with Ellen DeGeneres this week to chat about a variety of things, including the much-anticipated “Friends” reunion. Cox remained mostly mum about the goings-on within the unscripted reunion, simply sharing that the experience of getting back together with the cast after more than a decade and a half was “unbelievable” and “so emotional.” DeGeneres showed Cox a snapshot of her and her former co-stars from their days on set. The photo featured the six “Friends” inside the fountain seen in the opening credits for the show and seemingly having a wet, yet fun time.  Upon the host asking Cox...

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Organized A COVID-19 Vaccine Fundraiser In Honor Of Archies Birthday – BuzzFeed News

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, aka the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have organized a fundraiser to provide COVID-19 vaccines to those in underserved communities and countries in honor of their son Archie's second birthday. For the next 10 days, all donations made to Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, will be matched by three different organizations, meaning that a $5 donation (which buys one vaccine) will result in a $20 donation to the vaccine equity organization. In a statement posted on their charity foundation Archewell's website on Thursday, Harry and Meghan said the Mastercard Impact Fund, the Seadream Family Foundation, and an unnamed third charity will be matching donations made in honor of Archie's birthday of up to $3 million. "We cannot think of a more resonant way to ho...

Many of us are allowed to take off our masks. Why some of us dont want to. – USA TODAY

Last week, the official word came: If you're vaccinated, you can finally ditch your mask in certain social settings. One might expect the announcement to be met with waves of relief and an immediate shift in behavior. For some there was. But others remain quietly hesitant — even though it's safe, they don't want to take off their masks yet. According to new guidelines released last week by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, fully vaccinated Americans don’t need to wear a mask outside except in crowded settings, and can unmask during small outdoor gatherings with vaccinated people.  Masks have offered safety during unprecedented times. They were also divisive and often signaled to which political group you belonged, with studies showing that Republicans were less likely than D...

CDC data shows an average of 2.1 million reported vaccinations per day over the past week, down from a peak of 3.4 million in mid-April. At the same time, the rate of new infections fell further. About 46,600 new cases are being reported each day in the U.S., based on a seven-day average of Johns Hopkins University data, the lowest level since the fall. Beating the coronavirus didn’t spare him from possible ‘COVID psychosis.’ His wife warns it’s not as rare as people think. – USA TODAY

If you or someone you know may be struggling with suicidal thoughts, you can call the U.S. National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-TALK (8255) any time day or night, or chat online. Ben Price always was the biggest presence in any room. Loud and funny, his smile was captivating, said his wife, Jennifer.  The couple owned a small business and two farms in an Illinois suburb west of Chicago, where they lived with their two teenage children. She said her husband was the hardest working man she had ever met.  “He was the epitome of unconditional love and loved his kids with all his heart," she said. Price tells herself it wasn’t her husband who died by suicide on one of their farms the morning of Feb. 28. She believes he was taken over by what some health care professionals call “COVI...

Stranger Things 4’s latest teaser is a glimpse of Eleven’s dark past – The Verge

It’s been a long time since Netflix first announced Stranger Things 4 — the upcoming fourth season of the streamer’s hugely popular series — but there’s finally a new trailer teasing the next adventures of the Hawkins gang. The new teaser appears to be a flashback, showing the sinister Dr. Martin Brenner addressing a group of children at the same facility that Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) originated from. Presumably, the new season will continue to explore Eleven’s origins, as well as potentially introduce other supernatural children (something the show has explored before back in season 2.) The new trailer is technically the second for the upcoming fourth season, following a teaser released back in February 2020 that promised the return of the — spoilers for season 3 — presumably...
