It's taken over two years, but these days Jeremy Mateo is finally feeling at home. Mateo, 27, is a real estate broker in Honolulu, Hawaii, and bought his first condo on Oahu island right before the coronavirus pandemic in March 2020. It all started in January 2019, when he was showing a unit in a building that overlooked Diamond Head and Waikiki. "Immediately I saw the view and thought to myself, 'Wow, I need to live here,'" Mateo tells CNBC Make It. "So I made it my absolute goal to earn the income in order to afford to buy a unit in this building." Over the course of a year he saved $60,000 for a down payment and worked toward his goal of buying his "dream home." She did not share what injuries, if any, he sustained. Keleigh's revelation came hours after a TMZ report claimed the 34-year-old actor was "punched in the face" over a dispute about money. However, Keleigh said the details of the report were "completely false." Teller's wife went on to claim the Maui incident is now being criminally investigated. Reps for Teller and the Maui Police Department (MPD) did not immediately return Fox News' requests for comment. MILES TELLER SENDS CRYPTIC TWEET AMID AARON RODGERS' PACKERS RIF...

"If you are vaccinated, you're protected, and you can enjoy your Memorial Day," said Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Rochelle Walensky on Wednesday. "If you're not vaccinated, our guidance has not changed for you. You remain at risk of infection. You still need to mask and take other precautions." The federal holiday, which commemorates military personnel who died in service, is seen as the unofficial start to summer and grilling season. According to the Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association, 56% of grill owners plan to fire up the grill this weekend. The Fourth of July is the most popular grilling day, with 68% plan...

Alzheimers “World First” Discovery: Blood Oxygen Levels Could Explain Why Memory Loss Is an Early Symptom – SciTechDaily

The findings demonstrate how the brain’s memory center operates at a ‘watershed’ making it especially vulnerable to damage Study suggests increasing blood flow in the hippocampus might be really effective at preventing damage and memory loss Findings underline importance of exercise and a low-cholesterol diet in long-term brain health, by boosting blood vessel health and brain blood flow In a world first, scientists from the University of Sussex have recorded blood oxygen levels in the hippocampus and provided experimental proof for why the area, commonly referred to as “the brain’s memory center,” is vulnerable to damage and degeneration, a precursor to Alzheimer’s disease. To understand why this region is so sensitive, the University of Sussex researchers, headed up by Dr. Cath...

First, it would add more content to Peacock, NBCUniversal's subscription video service. Lionsgate owns shows including "Mad Men," "Orange is the New Black," "Nashville" and "Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist." Lionsgate currently licenses those shows to a grab bag of streaming services. Second, Lionsgate owns premium network Starz, which would fit seamlessly with NBCUniversal's offerings. Coronavirus vaccines may be slightly less effective for women than men, emerging research suggests – Business Insider

Anna Kern, a 33-year-old nurse practitioner in Ferndale, Michigan, didn't expect to get COVID-19 after being vaccinated. She got her shots in January, but then in April, she tested positive after being exposed to the virus through an unvaccinated coworker. She has had chills, fatigue, and a racing heart ever since. "You feel lots of guilt — like, what did I do wrong? How could I have been more cautious?" Kern told Insider, adding, "It feels weird to be a statistical anomaly." Breakthrough infections — cases of COVID-19 diagnosed at least two weeks after someone is fully vaccinated — are indeed rare. Just 0.01% of vaccinated Americans had developed breakthrough infections as of April 30, according to a recent report from the...

Pfizer jab less effective, still protects against strain found in India: Study – Times of India

PARIS: The Pfizer vaccine is slightly less effective but appears to still protect against the more transmissible strain of Covid-19 that first emerged in India, according to a study by France's Pasteur Institute. "Despite slightly diminished efficacy, the Pfizer vaccine probably protects" against the variant found in India, according to laboratory test results, said Olivier Schwartz, the institute's director and co-author of the study that was published on the BioRxiv website ahead of peer review. The study sampled 28 healthcare workers in the city of Orleans. Sixteen of them had received two doses of the Pfizer vaccine, while 12 had received one dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine. People who had received two doses of Pfizer saw a three-fold reduction in their antibodies against the va...
