The Mandalorian Reportedly Pushing Gina Carano for Emmy Awards Consideration – ComicBook.com

Gina Carano may no longer be a part of the Lucasfilm family, but that's not stopping Disney from pushing for the actor to get an Emmy. Over the weekend, Disney's Emmys' "For Your Consideration" marketing materials surfaced online, and the controversial actor is included in the Mouse's push for this year's Emmy Awards. On the poster circulating for The Mandalorian, Carano is listed under the "Best Supporting Actress" category, despite being fired from the company earlier this year. The same FYC poster lobbies for Pedro Pascal as Best Lead Actor, and Giancarlo Esposito and Temuera Morrison for Best Supporting Actor. The show then has a dozen or so guest stars listed for consideration as well. You can see the poster from Disney below. (Photo: Lucasfilm)Carano was fired from her role as Car...

Fauci Says Indoor Mask Guidance Should Ease With Vaccinations – The New York Times

Dr. Anthony S. Fauci said on Sunday that he was open to relaxing indoor masking rules as more Americans get vaccinated against the virus, just two days after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention belatedly emphasized the danger of airborne transmission. Dr. Fauci, President Biden’s chief medical adviser for the pandemic, said that as vaccinations climb, “we do need to start being more liberal” in terms of rules for wearing masks indoors, though he noted that the nation was still averaging about 43,000 cases of the virus daily. “We’ve got to get it much, much lower than that,” he said. On Friday, the C.D.C. updated its guidance about how the coronavirus spreads, stating explicitly that people can inhale airborne virus even when they are more than six feet away from an infected in...

Disney Imagineer responds to Snow White ride backlash by explaining plot of Snow White – The A.V. Club

People dressed as Snow White and the PrincePhoto: Brian Ach/Getty Images for Disney The Disneyland community has been rocked by controversy this past week ever since the park unveiled a redesigned version of classic ride Snow White’s Scary Adventure, replacing it with a more technologically advanced version called Snow White’s Enchanted Wish. The problem, though (as laid out by Katie Dowd and Julie Tremaine in a piece for SFGate), is that rather than ending with the dramatic death of the Evil Queen, like in the original version of the ride, it now ends with the Prince kissing the sleeping Snow White—as in the non-consensual “true love’s kiss” that only one person involved in is even aware of, a.k.a. the thing that makes the original movie problematic. Unlike the “‘wokeness’ is ruining ...

Seth Rogen Says He Doesn’t Plan to Work With James Franco After Sexual Misconduct Allegations – Variety

Seth Rogen has spoken out about his professional relationship with frequent co-star and collaborator James Franco, saying that he has no plans to work with him following allegations of sexually inappropriate behavior. In an interview with The Sunday Times, Rogen addressed the allegations, as well as his 2014 “Saturday Night Live” opening monologue, where he joked about a 17-year-old girl’s allegation that Franco had direct messaged her on Instagram to meet up. “I decided to prank James Franco,” Rogen says during the monologue. “I posed as a girl on Instagram, told him I was way young. He seemed unfazed. I have a date to meet him at the Ace Hotel.” “What I can say is that I despise abuse and harassment and I would never cover or conceal the actions of someone doing it, or kno...

Indias Covid Patients Suffer a Fungal Threat: Mucormycosis – The New York Times

NEW DELHI — Doctors in India are concerned about an increasing number of potentially fatal fungal infections affecting either people who have Covid-19 or those who have recently recovered from the disease. The condition, known as mucormycosis, has a high mortality rate and was present in India before the pandemic. It is caused by a mold that thrives in wet environments and can attack through the respiratory tract, potentially eroding facial structures and harming the brain. The condition is relatively rare, but doctors and medical experts say it seems to be infecting some Covid patients whose weakened immune systems and underlying conditions, particularly diabetes, leave them vulnerable. Some experts attribute the fungal infections to an increased use of steroids to treat hospitalized...

Queens first cousin allegedly trading on links to Putin and monarchy, UK media report – CNN

The report centers around undercover recordings of a Zoom meeting involving Prince Michael, his friend and business partner Simon Isaacs -- whose title is the Marquess of Reading -- and two undercover journalists posing as executives of a fake South Korean company that invests in gold. The investigation by the UK's Sunday Times and Channel 4 does not allege Prince Michael or Isaacs took part in any illegal activity. According to The Sunday Times, their undercover reporters claimed the fictitious South Korean company "was looking to hire a royal to market its investment service" and wrote in a letter that it "was planning to set up a Moscow office and offered to hire the prince as an adviser to use his 'excellent contacts' in Russia." "I've traveled extensively around Russia for many di...

Gal Gadot Claims Director Joss Whedon “Threatened My Career’ During ‘Justice League’ Reshoot – Deadline

Actress Gal Gadot has amplified her previous remarks on director Joss Whedon, renewing the heat he’s experienced for his alleged toxic behavior toward the casts of tv shows Angel and Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the film Justice League. Echoing the remarks of others about Whedon’s alleged behavior, Gadot has previously acknowledged her own run-in with Whedon. But she merely said at the time she had an “experience” with him, “which wasn’t the best one, but I took care of it there and when it happened. I took it to the higher-ups.” In a Saturday interview with Israeli news outlet N12, Gadot elaborated on her prior statement, revealing the content of Whedon’s threat. “He kind of threatened my career and said if I did something, he would make my career miserable, and I just...
