A group of 18 scientists from all over the world has written an open letter calling for an investigation into the origins of coronavirus, imploring that accidental release from a lab not be ruled out "until we have sufficient data." The letter, which was published in Science, also said the zoonotic spillover and lab accident theories "were not given balanced consideration."  "Only 4 of the 313 pages of the report and its annexes addressed the possibility of a laboratory accident," the letter stated. State health leaders say the number of COVID-19 patients they're seeing in hospitals throughout New Mexico is down from the height of the pandemic. Most major health facilities say fewer than 5% are COVID-19 patients now.The state says the patients that are coming in with Covid have something else in common in addition to the virus. "Of all of the new COVID cases we are seeing, 99% of them are occurring among people who have not been vaccinated," Department of Health spokesman Matt Bieber said.
