Investigation Concludes That Despite Hospital Staffs Lack of Empathy and Compassion, No One Is Responsible – The Root

Dr. Susan MooreScreenshot: Susan Moore/ Facebook On Dec. 20 of last year, Dr. Susan Moore died from COVID-19 complications just weeks after she posted a viral Facebook video in which she complained that her doctor and the staff at Indiana University North Hospital dismissed her pain, refused her adequate care and failed to believe that she knew what care she needed as if she wasn’t a whole family medicine physician who had practiced medicine in Indiana since 2009. On Wednesday, an investigation concluded that while Moore received care that was lacking in “empathy and compassion,” her treatment at the hospital didn’t contribute to her death. Even the White House got less than a day’s notice from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the press secretary, Jen Psaki, said at a news briefing on Friday. “The C.D.C., the doctors and medical experts there, are the ones who determined what this guidance would be based on their own data, and what the timeline would be,” Ms. Psaki said. “That was not a decision directed by or made by the White House.” For months, federal officials have vigorously warned that wearing masks and social distancing were necessary to contain the pandemic. So what changed? Introducing the new recommendations on Thursda...
