Heart study: Low- and regular-dose aspirin safe, effective – Yahoo News

An unusual study that had thousands of heart disease patients enroll themselves and track their health online as they took low- or regular-strength aspirin concludes that both doses seem equally safe and effective for preventing additional heart problems and strokes. But there’s a big caveat: People had such a strong preference for the lower dose that it’s unclear if the results can establish that the treatments are truly equivalent, some independent experts said. Half who were told to take the higher dose took the lower one instead or quit using aspirin altogether. “Patients basically decided for themselves” what they wanted to take because they bought the aspirin on their own, said Dr. Salim Virani, a cardiologist at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston who had no role in the study. PHOTOS: Guests Walk Up Main Street USA Without Masks for First Time in 14 Months at Walt Disney World – wdwnt.com

For the first time since March 2020, guests are permitted to walk around Walt Disney World’s theme parks without a face covering, per a shocking late night change in rules that have stood at the Orlando theme parks since their July 2020 reopening. WDWNT reporters were on the scene at the Magic Kingdom today to be the first to bring you a look at this historic moment in time as Guests strolled down Main Street, U.S.A. without face coverings. Although some Guests chose to retain their face coverings, a fair majority of visiting Guests had their masks either pulled down around their chin or removed entirely. Most chose the former, keeping their masks at the ready for whenever entry to a shop or attraction is required. Signs remain in place on Walt Disney World trash cans informing Gues...

LA County supervisor calls on Newsom to end Californias mask mandate – Fox News

A Los Angeles County supervisor called on California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Friday to immediately lift the state's mask mandate as some other states have following new federal guidance that fully vaccinated people can go most places without masks. Kathryn Barger said Los Angeles County has made "tremendous progress" in vaccinating residents and noted the county’s positivity rate is less than 1%, the City News Service of Los Angeles reported.  "As we return to normalcy and rapidly increase vaccinations, I believe it is appropriate for CDPH (California Department of Public Health) and Cal-OSHA to change the existing distancing and masking requirements in alignment with the CDC," Barger wrote in a letter to Newsom, referring to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  She said...

Disney World drops outdoor mask requirement – New York Post

The only people required to wear masks outside at Disney World will be the costumed characters. The Orlando, Fla., park will only require customers to wear masks in indoor areas and on public transportation beginning Saturday, Blog Mickey reported. The Friday announcement comes a day after Disney chief executive Bob Chapek touted the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention decision to lift mask requirements as “very big news,” that will cause an attendance spike at theme parks. A relaxed mask policy, Chapek added, will be a relief to Disney World customers, “particularly if anybody’s been in Florida in the middle of summer with a mask on. That could be quite daunting.”  Disneyland in California is still subject to the state’s mask order.  ...

‘Clarice,’ ‘SEAL Team’ Eye Move to Paramount+ From CBS – Hollywood Reporter

Should SEAL Team and Clarice make it to the 2021-22 season, it may not be on CBS — at least not entirely. Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the two dramas, produced by CBS Studios (MGM also produces Clarice), are in discussions to move to Paramount+ next season. The ViacomCBS streaming service is continuing to bulk up its catalog of original series, and the two CBS shows could bring some potential built-in audience with a move. Paramount+ and CBS Studios declined comment. A move for SEAL Team and Clarice also potentially opens up some real estate on CBS, which has already renewed nine hour-long dramas and ordered four newcomers to series for 2021-22. Sources say SEAL Team, which has aired four seasons on CBS, could begin its season with a batch of episo...

Downtown DSM to block off streets for entertainment district – KCCI Des Moines

The City of Des Moines has announced it will be blocking off parts of downtown to create an entertainment experience. Between May 21 and Sept. 4, each Friday and Saturday parts of Court Avenue will be closed to traffic. This will allow for outdoor seating, vendors and live music in the streets. The "entertainment zone" will be for those ages 21 and up. There will be no charge to enter the entertainment district, but IDs will be required to gain access. It will close a two-block area around Court Avenue and Third Street between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m. It will prevent some areas of on-street parking, but visitors are encouraged to use nearby parking ramps.“This is a similar approach that other cities including Milwaukee and Kansas City have in place at a popular bar and restaurant districts ...

‘SEAL Team’ & ‘Clarice’ To Move From CBS To Paramount+; Military Drama To Get Network Sendoff – Deadline

In what could be a glimpse of the future of a symbiotic relationship between broadcast networks and their streaming siblings, I hear two high-profile CBS drama series on the bubble, SEAL Team, and Clarice, will be moving to Paramount+ next season. The deals are still being finalized but I hear the David Boreanaz-starring military drama, which is wrapping its fourth season, will kick off its fifth season on CBS next fall and air its first several episodes — likely four — on the broadcast network before migrating to Paramount+. Freshman Clarice‘s second season will stream exclusively on Paramount+. Reps for the streamer and CBS Studios, which produces both series, declined comment. Already seen with the moves of A.P. Bio from NBC to Peacock, Search Party from TBS to HBO Max ...
