Queen Elizabeth made some ‘difficult decisions’ related to Prince Philip’s funeral plans – Fox News

Queen Elizabeth II reportedly had to "make some difficult decisions" while planning Prince Philip’s funeral. The Duke of Edinburgh is set to be laid to rest at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle on Saturday and while Philip will only be surrounded by close friends and family, the choice wasn’t lost on the Queen and she made it after giving the situation careful thought. Given the fact that coronavirus and social distancing protocols only limit the gathering to 30 people, a spokesperson for Buckingham Palace told People magazine on Thursday that regardless of the public event Philip’s funeral is likely to be, they "are dealing with a family funeral and at its heart it is still a family event," the spokesperson said.  The Queen will be joined by the four children she shared with Prin...

Madison LeCroy speaks out on Alex Rodriguez, Jennifer Lopez breakup – Page Six

Madison LeCroy wishes the best for Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez in their breakup. The “Southern Charm” star told Page Six on Thursday when we reached out about A-Rod and J.Lo announcing their split: “I wish them the best.” It was perhaps the perfect send-off to the celebrity exes from LeCroy, after she’d been entangled in rumors that she had a relationship with Rodriguez. LeCroy had previously remained mum when we reported last month that Rodriguez and Lopez were splitting. “You kind of caught me off guard,” the 30-year-old reality star said when we told her that A-Rod and J.Lo were breaking up. But now that their parting is official, she sent her best wishes. LeCroy was caught up in a recent scandal when rumors came out on her Bravo series’ re...

No, your blood type doesnt affect risk of COVID-19 or severe illness, new Utah study finds – KSL.com

SALT LAKE CITY — Your blood type does not factor in your risk for contracting COVID-19 or developing a severe case of it, researchers at Intermountain Healthcare and other institutions determined. Their findings, published in the Journal of American Medical Association earlier this month, counters previous global studies and research that suggested blood type was one factor for why some people suffered symptoms of COVID-19 more than others. "I think it's important because it's been, for us, really one of our primary objectives to identify patients who are at higher risk and to build risk scores," said Dr. Jeffrey Anderson, a cardiologist and researcher with the Intermountain Medical Center Heart Institute, and the study's lead researcher. Hospitals use all sorts of possible risks to deter...

99.992% of fully vaccinated people have dodged COVID, CDC data shows – Ars Technica

Enlarge / Residents wait in an observation area after receiving Covid-19 vaccines at a vaccination site in Richmond, California on Thursday, April 15, 2021. Cases of COVID-19 are extremely rare among people who are fully vaccinated, according to a new data analysis by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Among more than 75 million fully vaccinated people in the US, just around 5,800 people reported a “breakthrough” infection, in which they became infected with the pandemic coronavirus despite being fully vaccinated. The numbers suggest that breakthroughs occur at the teeny rate of less than 0.008 percent of fully vaccinated people—and that over 99.992 percent of those vaccinated have not contracted a SARS-CoV-2 infection. The fig...

State health officials said they're still learning about the characteristics of the strain. The variant was discovered in Johnson County by the State Hygienic Lab. The state is working with the individual to find out more about the exposure to the variant. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there are 497 cases of the P.1 variant in the United States. The CDC says the P.1 variant has three mutations and impacts the transmission and antigenic profile. Three days ago, the IDPH announced reports of the U.K. variant of COVID-19 at a care facility. Kyra Sedgwick says she isnt invited back to Tom Cruises house – CNN

The actress appeared on Wednesday's episode of "The Drew Barrymore Show" and told Barrymore a story about attending a party filled with movie stars at Tom Cruise's house about 30 years ago. Sedgwick says this was around the time she had starred in the 1989 film "Born on the Fourth of July" with Cruise and her husband, Kevin Bacon, had filmed "A Few Good Men" with him. She told Barrymore: "I was pregnant, I was very pregnant, and we got invited over to dinner. We got invited over for dinner with lots of famous people like Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, because she was in [A Few Good Men]. Rob Reiner was there, it was a flow, and Nicole [Kidman] was there. It was one of those nights that I often don't get invited to." They were there to screen "A Few Good Men." Sedgwick said she cou...

Stanford begins testing Pfizer vaccine in babies and young children – The Mercury News

The littlest research volunteers arrived at Stanford University on Wednesday, accompanied by their parents, to participate in a pivotal study of the COVID-19 vaccine in very young children. “We want our kids to be protected from the virus, and not to spread it to others if they do get infected,” said Zinaida Good of Palo Alto, whose 3-year-old son Andel sat still for a shot, then went home to play and take a nap. The family’s 7-month-old baby Soren is scheduled for a shot next month. The goal of the trial at Stanford Health Care, the only site on the West Coast to test the Pfizer vaccine in children younger than 5, is to identify the strongest dose with the fewest side effects. As adult vaccinations expand, an increasing number of grownups can socialize, blissfully mask-free. About ...

Brazil is in the grip of a humanitarian catastrophe because of Bolsonaros failed response – Daily Mail

Brazil's 'failed' response to Covid-19 has driven the country to a 'humanitarian catastrophe,' Doctors Without Borders said on Thursday, accusing President Jair Bolsonaro's government of making the health crisis even worse. 'The lack of political will to adequately respond to the pandemic is killing Brazilians in their thousands,' the humanitarian group said in a statement. The statement underlined the deadly surge of Covid-19 that has made Brazil the current epicentre of the pandemic.
