MyPillow man Mike Lindells new social platform does not have optimal launch – Salon

MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell's new alternative social media platform FRANK — which (somehow) is supposed to stand for "Free, Forthright, and Sincere Expression of Speech" — was originally scheduled to welcome fearless pro-Trump and pro-pillow users last Thursday at midnight. That deadline came and went with no successful launch, and another was scheduled for Monday at 9 a.m. Eastern. That one didn't happen either. Instead, the bedding magnate, whose company filed a $1.6 billion dollar lawsuit against Dominion Voting Systems on Monday — precisely matching Dominion's defamation suit against Lindell and his company — remained in his familiar domain, hosting a disjointed live stream described as a "48-hour Frank-a-thon," interrupted by prank callers and an impromptu interview with a Salon report...

Is Hollywoods Wall of Silence on Scott Rudin Beginning to Crack? – Hollywood Reporter

As the mega-producer begins to cut ties with Broadway shows and film projects amid abuse claims, financial backer Barry Diller stays mum and key decision-makers have stayed out of the fray so far. Call it soft distancing. In the wake of an April 7 Hollywood Reporter exposé on Scott Rudin’s abusive behavior, a number of industry organizations and Rudin himself have begun to address the matter, albeit in vague and toothless ways. On April 17, Rudin announced that he is stepping back from “active participation” in his upcoming Broadway projects, but he gave no indication of what that actually means and which plays will be affected. Three days later, he released a second statement saying he is stepping away from film and streaming projects as well. But to date, no industry player...

Sinus-Clearing Foods That’ll Blast The Snot Right Out Of You – HuffPost

Ah, spring. Pink puffs of blossoms decorate trees, daffodils stretch open their buttery frills to the sun and ― what’s that? Sorry, I was too busy sneezing to finish my thought. If your nose runs so much that your most notable spring accessory is the tissue that’s always tucked into the wrist of your shirt sleeve, you’re likely in need of some relief from seasonal allergies. While you should see an allergist to properly diagnose and treat you, a few remedies in your own kitchen can help you breathe easier (and they’re doctor-approved). You probably already know that spicy foods like jalapenos and wasabi can make your nose run. But have you wondered why? And are spicy foods actually helpful in the long run? What if you’re not a fan of a good burn? Are there nonspicy foods and drinks that...

A quarter of the U.S. population is vaccinated. So why are COVID-19 cases still rising? – Salon

On Monday, Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), warned that the country's seven-day average of COVID-19 cases hit 67,440 cases day. That was a marked increase from a month ago — when, as Walensky noted, the seven-day average was "just over 53,000 per day. "Sadly, the seven-day average of daily deaths are now increasing, with six consecutive days of increases, to about 695 deaths per day," Walensky said.  The slow rise in COVID-19 cases around the country might appear incongruous with another basic public health fact: in the same span of time, tens of millions more Americans have been fully vaccinated against the novel coronavirus, which causes COVID-19. According to CDC, more than 50 percent of U.S. adults 18 and older in the U.S. have ...

Pfizer Identifies Fake Covid-19 Shots Abroad as Criminals Exploit Vaccine Demand – The Wall Street Journal

Pfizer Inc. says it has identified in Mexico and Poland the first confirmed instances of counterfeit versions of the Covid-19 vaccine it developed with BioNTech SE , the latest attempt by criminals trying to exploit the world-wide vaccination campaign. Vials seized by authorities in separate investigations were tested by the company and confirmed to contain bogus vaccine. The vials recovered in Mexico also had fraudulent labeling, while a substance inside vials in Poland was likely an anti-wrinkle treatment, Pfizer said. About 80 people at a clinic in Mexico received a fake vaccine going for about $1,000 a dose, though they don’t appear to have been physically harmed. The vials, found in beach-style beer coolers, had different lot numbers than those se...

Angelina Jolie opens up that a change in my family situation lead to taking more acting roles – Daily Mail

Angelina Jolie has stated that she stepped back from directing to return to acting due to 'a change in her family situation'.   After establishing herself as one of the most bankable box office stars in the early 2000s, she largely devoted the 2010s to directing, although she has now insisted that a continued pursuit of directing has become 'impossible'. The star made her directing debut in 2011's In the Land of Blood and Honey, followed by 2014's Unbroken, By the Sea in 2015 and First They Killed My Father in 2017. While she did not specifically detail what the 'change' is, Angelina, 45, has been engaged in a lengthy custody battle with ex-husband Brad Pitt since 2016, following their split after more than a decade together and over two years of marriage.  Changes ar...

Indian Covid-19 variant is sparking global concern. Why do we know so little about it? – Scroll.in

As of April 20, India’s homegrown variant of the novel coronavirus has spread to at least 15 other countries, worrying health administrators and scientists across the world. Several countries, most recently the United Kingdom, have banned flights from India. There is a growing clamour in many other countries such as Canada to do the same. Although there is lack of data, there is widespread speculation among Indian scientists that the country’s current surge – the worst since the outbreak of the pandemic – is fuelled by this variant, labelled B.1.617. According to the global GISAID database, a free-to-access collaborative initiative of the German government and Friends of the non-profit GISAID, the variant accounted for 63.6% of coronavirus strains from India that underwent ge...
