2021 Oscars red carpet: Fashion takes over Union Station – Los Angeles Times

After an awards season that started off with luxe loungewear seen from stars’ homes and hotel rooms around the world, we’re ending the journey with the Oscars on Sunday — and, in what might seem like a return to normalcy this pandemic year, there’s a red carpet. This time, the star-studded 93rd Academy Awards is happening at Union Station in downtown Los Angeles, not the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland in Hollywood. We’ll be updating this red-carpet photo gallery as the evening goes on and the stars, guests and nominees arrive. We’re curious to see what looks Andra Day, Viola Davis, Olivia Colman, Riz Ahmed, Lakeith Stanfield and Daniel Kaluuya will wear. (Whom do you hope to see and win the red carpet?) We’re expecting this awards show to be a return to formal Hollywood glitz ...

2021 Oscar Winners: Complete List – The New York Times

[Follow our live coverage of the 2021 Oscars.] The Academy Awards look different this year: The red carpet has been hemmed, and the after-parties cut. The ceremony is being held almost two months later than usual, at an in-person event split between the Dolby Theater in Hollywood and Union Station in downtown Los Angeles. It’s an unusual setup in an unusual year, where many of the films were released during a time when movie theaters were largely closed because of the coronavirus pandemic. Nevertheless, this ceremony could make history. All four acting Oscars could go to people of color. Chloé Zhao has won the directing award for “Nomadland,” becoming the first woman of color to win in that category, and the second woman ever to win there. (Kathryn Bigelow was the first, for “The Hurt Lo...

Overdue VHS Tape of Sabrina the Teenage Witch Prompts Arrest Warrant – The New York Times

They once dotted shopping plazas in America with ubiquity, beckoning binge watchers with shelves of VHS cassettes, microwave popcorn and boxes of candy — and a reminder to “Be Kind, Rewind.” Video rental stores, pushed closer to the brink of extinction by streaming services like Netflix and changing technology, may be a thing of the past but an overdue rental became an issue of the present for a Texas woman. The woman, who was identified in court records as Caron Scarborough Davis, recently learned that there was a 21-year-old outstanding warrant for her arrest in Oklahoma. Her offense? Prosecutors said that Ms. Davis had failed to return a copy of “Sabrina the Teenage Witch,” a television sitcom that aired from 1996 to 2003. She rented the tape of episodes from a video store in Nor...

Matt James Hangs Out with Rachael Kirkconnell Amid Reunion Rumors – TMZ

Matt James might've walked away from Rachael Kirkconnell on national TV after the racism dust-up ... but he seems to have circled back with her in the real world for another go. The former 'Bachelor' was seen hanging out with his ex Saturday in the City of Angels -- grabbing brew at a bar called JuneShine in Santa Monica, with some friends in tow. Matt was trying to be all incognito for the outing, but it's pretty obvious to us that's him and her. His bottom-half attire pretty much gives it away ... so does the skateboard. The guy's often seen shredding and wearing short-shorts ... especially those green/blue ones. He eve...

Israel examining heart inflammation cases in people who received Pfizer COVID shot – Reuters

Israel’s Health Ministry said on Sunday it is examining a small number of cases of heart inflammation in people who had received Pfizer’s (PFE.N) COVID-19 vaccine, though it has not yet drawn any conclusions. Ash said it was unclear whether this was unusually high and whether it was connected to the vaccine. Most of the cases were reported among people up to age 30. "The Health Ministry is currently examining whether there is an excess in morbidity (disease ra...
