Tinnitus and COVID-19 connection explained by experts – Yahoo Lifestyle

As researchers continue to unravel the myriad health issues people face after having COVID-19, tinnitus and hearing loss are emerging as possible troublesome symptoms for some. Tinnitus — marked by a ringing, buzzing or hissing sound in one or both ears — in particular, made headlines when Texas Roadhouse restaurant chain chief executive officer Kent Taylor recently died by suicide after suffering from post-COVID symptoms, including severe tinnitus. There’s also new research published in the International Journal of Audiology, which looked at data from 24 different studies and found an association between COVID-19 and auditory problems. Sean Young Says Her Career Was Derailed by Ridley Scott, Oliver Stone, Warren Beatty and Others – Variety

Sean Young, best known for her roles in “Blade Runner” and “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective,” has been acting in Hollywood for over 40 years — and has seen a lot. Once branded as difficult to work with and blacklisted in Hollywood, Young revealed how her career was sabotaged by a handful of “powerful, terribly vindictive men.” In an interview with The Daily Beast, the actor said she doesn’t think of herself as strong-willed, but she “did make men nervous — and for no particular reason” back in the ’80s. During the interview, Stern mentioned the David Letterman interview where Young flaunted her armpit hair, to which she said Letterman was “intimidated” in the moment. “David’s much more insecure than he lets on,” Young said. “He’s a great guy, though. In my opinion, it’s much more c...

When aNormal Resting Heart Rate Might Actually Signal Trouble – msnNOW

Henrik SorensenGetty Images Men with resting heart rates on the low end of the normal range are less likely to die early than those with heart rates on the higher end of the normal range, according to new research published in BMJ Open Heart. But a change in resting heart rate matters, too: For every additional beat increase in resting heart rate over the course of the study, the participants’ risk of early death rose by 3 percent. If you notice a sustained increase in your resting heart rate, even if it still falls within the normal range, you should talk with your doctor. You might regularly check your heart rate when you’re on a run or working out, but research suggests you may want to keep track of your resting heart rate...
