6 Dr. Seuss books wont be published for racist images – The Associated Press

BOSTON (AP) — Six Dr. Seuss books — including “And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street” and “If I Ran the Zoo” — will stop being published because of racist and insensitive imagery, the business that preserves and protects the author’s legacy said Tuesday. “These books portray people in ways that are hurtful and wrong,” Dr. Seuss Enterprises told The Associated Press in a statement that coincided with the late author and illustrator’s birthday. “Ceasing sales of these books is only part of our commitment and our broader plan to ensure Dr. Seuss Enterprises’ catalog represents and supports all communities and families,” it said. The other books affected are “McElligot’s Pool,” “On Beyond Zebra!,” “Scrambled Eggs Super!,” and “The Cat’s Quizzer.” The decision to cease publication and...

The findings were published in EbioMedicine, part of the prestigious medical journal The Lancet. China Both Celebrates and Slams Chloe Zhao’s ‘Nomadland’ Golden Globe Glory – Variety

After Chloe Zhao became the first Asian woman to ever win the Golden Globe for best director, Chinese social media was abuzz about everything related to Zhao—except the film itself. Medical Visits You Shouldnt Skip, Even If COVID-19 Cases Are Surging : Shots – Health News – NPR

As the medical community unearths troubling consequences for people who put off routine or emergency health care during the coronavirus pandemic, an urgent message is going out to patients: There are some medical appointments you just shouldn't put off any longer, even if you're nervous about venturing into a clinic or emergency room. Covid-19’s ‘Patient Zero’: What Life Is Like for the New York Lawyer – The Wall Street Journal

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y.—A year ago, a father of four from this New York City suburb deteriorated in days from having a mild cough to feeling like he was drowning. He was one of New York’s first coronavirus cases. Soon Gov. Andrew Cuomo imposed a containment zone on his town to curb its spread and called him “Patient Zero.” There was an outpouring of support for the man’s family as he lay in a medically induced coma, as well as a few jabs from people who blamed him for an outbreak. Now Lawrence Garbuz says he feels deep gratitude for the joys of being alive—his family, his Orthodox Jewish community and the beauty of a tree near his doorstep that he barely noticed before he got sick. At 51 years old, he has counseled other Covid-19 patients who call f...
